    PROGRAM(S)/TOOLS:Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Indesign

OBJECTIVES:Create a logo for a professional business.Design the layout for a personal business card and letter head.

PROCESS:I created my logo using Adobe Illustrator. The logo is created out of simple shapes, colors and two separate contrasting fonts. Going with a non-traditional style, one where the card is read long ways. I placed the logo at an angel on the top of the card in a colored box, then created a pattern using colored squares that were based off of the color of the logo. On the other side I put the logo at the bottom. Three separate colored squares on the right to add contrast. I created a text box and put my info there and positioned it on the lower right side of the business card.

OBJECTIVESCreate a professional stationary that contains my newly created logo

PROCESSI created my logo using Adobe Illustrator. The logo is created out of simple shapes, colors and two separate contrasting fonts.I copied the pattern of squares on the business card and enlarged it to fit the whole page. Then adjusted the opacity to 4% so you could barely see it. I made the square at the top right side of the page 100% opacity and put the logo on it. Then at the bottom of the page I created and used a small pattern of squares in a horizontal line that went a little over two thirds of the way across the page. I then created a text box and put all of my information in it and fit it to one of the faded squares in the bottom right corner.

    OBJECTIVESCreate a professional logo

PROCESSI ended up having a lot of fun with this project. My final looks com-pletely different from my draft because of the amazing advice and critique that I received when I took it around and asked peoples advice. I completely reformed the business and the image by build-ing up first from the color scheme and then the font to make sure it had a professional look. I drew a box and two different types of fonts to increase contrast.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSTextWrangler, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

OBJECTIVESDesign and create an organized webpage from scratch using basic HTML and CSS coding, containing my recently designed logo. PROCESSI used TextWrangler to create this webpage. This was my first time writing in HTML and CSS code. I really enjoyed it and found it easy to work with. I love how simple it is to actually design and create a webpage.I followed some detailed instructions on how to program the HTML and attached a premade CSS file. Then edited the CSS coding by first going to the webpage and inspecting the elements so I could view the changes immediately and get the hex color number so I could make the changes in the coding. I changed the fonts to times new ro-man-san serif, and Palatino Linotype-serif, to complement each other.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSAdobe Ilustrator, InDesign and Photoshop

OBJECTIVESCreate a brochure using all the skills I have gained in illustrator, indesign and photoshop.

PROCESSI began my process by first sketching an idea and selecting a brochure design. I knew that I wanted to keep it simple but also unique. So I designed an inch overlap on the fold from the inside to show a film strip that I filled with several images from popular movies to catch attention.I used illustrator to design both my logo and the front of the brochure. then placed both the logo and the front into the indesign document and began creating the brochure. I placed my logo in the company name and also in the bottom left corner of the front page. The business is Merry Making Entertainment. Theres a paragraph and an image of popcorn on the fron of the brochure. I used wrap around text to shape it the way I wanted to.I use my logo, colors and film to create repetition throughout my image. For the inside of the brochure I used an image I found online of a film reel set the opacity to 200%. I then divided up my five advertised movie genres on to either sold of where I intended the fold to be. I placed the logo in the bottom right corner on the inside of the brochure.I kept the back of the brochure simple. All one color and the logo in the very middle.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSPhotoShop

OBJECTIVESCreate an inspirational montage using only photoshop

PROCESS I first selected my two images that I wanted to blend and chose the back ground image.I cut out and selected part of the image of the temple and moved it to the background image and then added a mask.I zoomed in close to the image and by using black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the blue sky showing around the temple to blend with sky and the tall grass.I added the text which is also the body. And kept it black to add contrast and compliment the image.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSPhotoShop and a Nikon Camera

OBJECTIVESUse an orignal photo to create a poster.

PROCESSI began my process by taking several pictures as practice and then viewed other posters to get a better idea of what message I would like to relay. I chose a color scheme then went to the gar-dens on campus and took several pictures using a Nikon camera. I then made 4 basic edits in photo shop. Levels, Vibrancy/Saturation, Selective Color, and Sharpen. I then began creating and designing an 8.511 poster with my edited photo, and several other design techniques to create repetition, white space, and text to add to the image. I used the eye dropper tool adjust my colors to more closely match with those in the image. I made sure to make the background colors a little dimmer and less vibrant because I want-ed the photo to be able to stand out. I picked a bold font that I felt was professional and that fit with the rest of the design.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSWord Processor

OBJECTIVESCreate an event flyer using only word processor and a scanned image.

PROCESSI scanned the image of the concert, then cropped and expanded it to bring it into focus and make it proportional to the rest of the design. I added a long rectangular box on the right side of the page that fades from dark grey to black which adds contrast. I kept the color the same as it was when I scanned it to keep it lively. I changed the color of the font to match one of the main colors in the image and changed the title font color to red edged in yellow to really jump off the page.

    PROGRAMS/TOOLSInDesign

OBJECTIVESCreate an original flyer using provided images, logo, and text.

PROCESSI began by sketching 4 possible flier designs. Then while creating the flyer using Adobe InDesign I made adjustments of the drafts and ended up combining several of my original sketches. I created contrast by using white text on top of black boxes, and by placing the logo on the corner of these black boxes that added contrast. I aligned the logo and the image to give the flier a diagonal layout.
