Our 2011 calendar features images from one of our employees and professional photographer Keith Robertson. Keith captured his first image as a teenager and over the years he has travelled and captured images from all around the world. His passion for photography and his pursuit of ever more interesting and challenging subjects has always been his motivation.

“The direction of my photography has always been to challenge myself, to go a little further, to capture a single point in time that contains the pure and raw emotion of the moment and then share it with others in print.”

When Keith isn’t actively shooting s ports he can be found with a camera in his hands exploring the great outdoors in the Pacific North-West and other spectacular destinations around the globe. Based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Keith has more recently been concentrating on his interest in nature and wildlife photography and has begun to make some of his Photography Fine Art and Limited Edition Prints available to the public on his website; www.robertsonimages.ca.

Pileated Woodpecker – Caught in the act! This species of Woodpecker, one of the largest in size, can be found in the coastal forests of British Columbia and in Stanley Park where this large male was captured on film.

Mute Swan – This large male is one of the year round residents of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. Lost Lagoon hosts a number of these birds which can be found nesting along the edge of the lagoon in the spring.

The Common Merganser - A year round resident of BC these birds can be found in fresh and salt water and very often frequent Lost Lagoon. They have serrated bills for catching fish and are also referred to as “Sawbills”.

Great Blue Heron – It is the largest North American Heron and we are fortunate to have a great deal of them in Stanley Park. In the Spring you can find hundreds of them nesting and raising their young in the park.

Mallard Ducklings – During Spring in Stanley Park and Lost Lagoon you can find hundreds of these cute and adorable Ducklings everywhere. These two are from a family of 11 Ducklings captured on their first day on the water.

Anna’s Hummingbird - (Male) The male Anna’s Hummingbird has an iridescent crimson-red crown and throat and is primarily green bodied with a gray underside. They can be found in all areas of Vancouver.

Barred Owl – This female Barred Owl and her mate are regular residents in Stanley Park. She has her favourite locations for sleeping, hunting and just tourist watching. This picture was taken at noon on a very sunny and warm day in the park.

American Black Oystercatcher – These extremely shy and amazingly colourful birds can be found in the Spring off the shores of Stanley Park’s Third Beach. They can be found playing in the surf fighting over mussels and other shell fish.

Bald Eagle – One of my absolute favourite subjects to photograph is the Bald Eagle. This one was captured in the very early hours of a clear Vancouver morning.

Canada Goose – Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park is home to a year round population of Canada Geese. This mature male Goose was caught on film just after having a heated discussion with a younger male.

Great Blue Heron In Flight (Lost Lagoon) – One of my favourite shots to pursue is capturing reflections on the water of birds in flight. This day the water was perfectly calm and the Heron was most cooperative.
