Pacific Passage at Vancouver International Airport Vancouver, BC Welcoming impressions of the Canadian Pacific coast Vancouver International Airport’s architectural concept designated a number of interior spaces to serve as experiential nodes, distinct from the airport’s functional and circulatory space. The purpose of these nodes was to instill a sense of identity and character to the airport directly related to the airport’s function and regional culture. APA collaborated with architectural partners to design Vancouver International Airport’s Pacific Passage. Situated around the Arrivals exit way, the Pacific Passage represents the edge of a coastal forest, capturing the spirit of the Canadian Pacific Coast via an immersive set comprised of living plants, audiovisual effects, forest murals and theatrical scrims, which create a backdrop for a striking group of large contemporary indigenous art pieces. APA delivered a full design package for the Pacific Passage, from concept through to detailed design and management of exhibit fabrication and installation.
