Miller, C. Child & Adolescent Interventions course organized the course around intervention
type, with multiple activities in class, using case vignettes as well as de-identified cases.
Students complete an annotated bibliography assignment where they have to critically review
20 studies on treating different childhood disorders and then present their findings to the
class, so that they also get the information typically presented when following the traditional
method of teaching this class.
Norris, B. I have incorporated ReelDx Video Case studies into my classroom teaching to help
enhance student understanding by providing case-based learning opportunities.
Pedemonte, M. Self-taught imaging section will be added to the anatomy course work.
Reisch, B. Implemented Moodle for test administration and delivery of course materials,
leading to reduced time in grading tests and reduction of paper use.
Rodriguez, M. Implemented a unique flipped-classroom model with combined hybrid/online
sections, where lecture and practice activities are online with group work completed either in-
class or in virtual teams. Methodologies: Continuous feedback, strong faculty-to-student
engagement, and student-to-student engagement, interactive participation, interactive videos
& virtual patients, clinical visits and collaborative virtual teams.
Rodriguez, M. Cultural Project in Nicaragua: Each year, Pacific University’s College of
Healthcare Professions offers students a travel opportunity to provide health-related services
to elders in Nicaragua. Students learn to work in interdisciplinary teams to perform a needs-
based health assessment of elders housed in care facilitates known as “hogares.” This
activity introduces Spanish for students who recently participated in the Nicaragua program
and explores other healthcare systems in Latin American countries. Students gain an
understanding of the social, economic, and political factors that affect the healthcare
systems and access to healthcare services in these countries.
