CASE SYNOPSIS AND BACKGROUND
• PACK-iTS - A group of six university students wondered if they should proceed with Pack-iTS, a healthy lunch preparation and delivery service serving some of the elementary schools within the Thames Valley District School Board in Ontario, Canada.
• Initial Investment - $25000• OBJECTIVE - work for no more than
10 hours per week, withdraw a salary of $6,000 for the operating period of 10 months.
PROBLEM• Lack of experience - as they are in
their graduation and very less time they could devote to their startup.
• Multiple Choice - available for customers with feasible rate and different options.
• Need for administrative assistant-as total required hours were 80 and actually it only covered 60 hours.
• $25000 budget is insufficient to cover the initial expenses, if they were to pursue this venture they would be at loss of $2,265
CASE INFERENCE RECOMMENDATIONS
Price the product between $3 - $3.2 for larger sales volume.
Hire new administrative assistant to fill in the extra 20 hours required to work as only 60 hours of work is done by the six partners.
PACK-iTS should involve and gain expertise from Ruht-Elen, as she has
experience in this field.Invest more in
Promoting PACK-iTS at the Fund raising fair next
Strong Appeal by PACK-iTS towards parents to choose them, as they provide healthy and nutritious Whole grain food menu.
2/3rd of Full time parents did not have time to pack lunch for their children, Pack-iTShas a great opportunity to tap this segment.
The Family income in Ontario had gone up by 13.6% , so there is more prospect for the business.
