Page 42: Packages Report of Internship

1. Slow Information Flow:

Information flow between regional offices (of Karachi, Islamabad) and production

lines (Lahore) is not very quick, improper and manual i.e. by post normally.

2. Just Large Orders:

Packages’ production facility is inflexible, in a sense that it is unable to operate for

small orders due to increased fixed cost. In this way, a lot of small orders are

rejected.

3. High Prices :

Packages deserve to charge high prices for its quality products but in this way, the

companies who are not financially sound or in development stage can’t have access

to the Packages.

Opportunities:

1. There is a gradual increase in the awareness about Packaging importance among

the industrialists and they are really considering the packaging as the final sales

person for the products. So this awareness will brings more customers to the door

of Packages.

products and Packages is quality leader in Pakistan’s packaging industry and

huge revenues in the Packages.

4. Trend of sachets is also increasing day by day. Or in other words demand for

flexible packaging is increasing day by day.

43UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL PUNJAB

Page 44: Packages Report of Internship

Cannot take small orders.

Lack of motivation & intrinsic reward orientation among themanagement.

The procedure form getting an order to its completion is very lengthywith a new

customer.

There is a lack of communication between different departments of thecompany.

Mostly, the orders are not, completed on time, due to thecommunication gap

between the marketing people and the productionpeople.

When the sales team goes out on customer's visits, there is no one

inthe department, who in his absence, may deal with his allottedcustomers.

There is high employee turn over in particular in the executives' posts.

The promotion process is very slow in the company.

For even a small change in the amount of budget approval processbecomes very

lengthy

1. PACKAGES need to have very fast and quick information flow since it over

burdened company and need quick information for good service to be given to

its customers. This may be done using electronic flow of information.

PACKAGES are well established may afford even their own WAN and satellite

connection for internet. It will certainly enhance their speed of information

flow.

2. Being well reputed company PACKAGES are over burdened with work and

handicapped in a way that they can only process and large orders and due to the

same reason their Lead Time is much. This shortcoming may be covered just by

establishing new plants in other for smaller orders like in MULTAN and

FAISALABAD.

3. Packaging (especially flexible or poly packing) negatively influences the

environment by increasing the wastes. So this is a real threat for PACKAGES.
