Thus, it is best to be able to shed your clothing. Appropriate walking shoes (hiking boots). Thorns go straight through regular sports shoes! Sandals for around the camp. Khaki, beige or brown or other neutral colored clothing for the bush. Keep in mind blue attracts Tsetse flies and white is not practical because of dust. Short sleeve and at least one long sleeve shirt. Warm Jacket and sweater - depending on where you going gloves and scarf as it can get very chilly in the mornings and evenings in winter. Raincoat or Poncho, your swimsuit and a nice outfit...you never know who you are meeting! Hat for protecting both the head and neck. Leave your nice jewelery at home...only take what you can live without. . Personal Care Your regular toiletries. Practical is a small, hanging travel case with mirror. Soap, best is non-scented or lemongrass/citronella. Many of our favorite scents actually attract mosquitoes. Similarily perfume, and perfumed detergents. Sunscreen Insect/Tic Repellant Band Aids or small First Aid Kit (do not depend on your guide to have one.) Personal Medication Rehydration Sachets & Malaria Pills Don´t forget a clipper and a small nail brush (your hands will get dirty) Towels, best are microfiber towels. The small coin size emergency towels you can buy at outdoor outfitters worked surprisingly well for me.
