This is a great tool to facilitate
brainstorming, story-boards, collaboration,
and content curation. Students can add to
a communal page all at the same time
from any device (no download or app
required!) or create their own. Gives each
student an online voice in your community.
Your teacher-librarian can set up and
facilitate use of a Padlet for you and your
students to help them respond to
questions and ideas. He or she can also
teach online etiquette and guidelines to
ensure the Padlet experience is a safe
space for all students.
- Any group discussion: Post a discussion
prompt and allow students to respond.
- Curation tool for any topic: For any
research unit or topic students curate web
pages, images, articles, videos, documents,
even songs! etc. to access later. Teachers
and the teacher-librarian can assess
sources for quality.

1. Visit www.padlet.com and sign up for an
account.
2. Create your first Padlet: log in, then click
the pink 'make a padlet' button. Select the
kind of wall you would like (this determines
how your posts will be visually organized)
or choose a pre-designed template.
3. After you've selected your Padlet style, a
privacy settings page will open where you
can determine the level of privacy and
roles of contributors. You can also invite
users from this page.

4. Your Padlet is now ready! Start by
posting your discussion prompt etc.
5. To share with students you click the
'share' tab on the top right of your page.
Click Share/export/embed- this give you
either a digital QR code students can scan,
or that you can print off, or will give you a
link to give to students, or an embed code
so you can embed your padlet into a
website.
6. Students simply need to hit the big pink
button on the bottom right to add their
own thoughts and ideas to the board.

Posts are automatically anonymous. If
you wish each post to be attributed to
its author, simply go to your Padlet page,
click the 'gear' sign in the top right, go to
'modify', scroll down to almost the
bottom, and toggle the 'attribution' slide
to ensure author's names are added to
posts. This might be a good time to
toggle the 'profanity' button as well,
found just underneath, so that any
profanity is replaced with a nice emoji.
Just to be safe, you can click the 'share'
button on your Padlet page, scroll to the
bottom of the page that pops up, and
toggle the "Moderation" button, so that
you can approve any postings that come
in before going public
