His birth name was Francisco Forgione.

Padre Pio was a Capuchin Priest.He became famous for his Stigmata.When he was little he went to Mass every day

and prayed the Rosary every night.

When he was 15 years old, Padre Pio joined the Capuchin Friars and took vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience.

Padre Pio received the Stigmata in his hands, feet and sides. The Stigmata stayed with him until he died.

He was the only man other than St Francis of Assisi to ever receive the Stigmata.

Padre Pio was famous as a Confessor.

Thousands of people came to Padre Pio to confess their sins.

He had a special ability to read hearts. He was able to tell people what they had done wrong before they told him.

Padre Pio had special gifts of healing, bilocation (being in two places at once), levitation, prophecy, miracles and the ability to live without food or sleep. He had the gift of tongues, the gift of conversions and a special fragrance from his wounds.

Padre Pio was declared a Saint of the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II on May 2nd 1999

Padre Pio is my favourite Saint.He is my communion Saint too.
