TSU inaugurates CCS Building
Tarlac State University formally opened the College of Computer Studies (CCS) Building to the students and the public in its Inauguration Activity on April 21 at the TSU San Isidro Campus. The program started with a motorcade by the CCS students, faculty and officials from the Main Campus to the San Isidro Campus. A thanksgiving mass was conducted by Father Jessemar Mejia at the 5th floor AVR, followed by the blessing of the building. TSU President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari, together with other TSU key

officials and Father Mejia conducted the ribbon cutting. Afterwards, Dr. Armee N. Rosal, Dr. Lorna L. Dimatulac, Dr. Louella F. Ona and Dr. Mallari gave their messages. A ceremonial unveiling of the CCS Landmark and bike racks was also conducted. Students, faculty, guests and TSU officials gathered for a boodle feast. Different activities were done throughout the day such as the opening of booths, Laro ng Lahi, Adventure Race, Bingo, Variety Show and the 1st CCS Alumni Awards.

Deans, Directors, Unit Heads, College Secretaries, Program Chairpersons and Other Concerned Personnel took part in the Awareness Seminar on ISO 9001:2015 version or the Quality Management System (QMS) last April 17 and 18 at the TSU Main AVR. The activity comprised of two parts, first run on April 17 for the Administrative Council members, College Secretaries and lnternal Quality Auditors, and the second run on April 18 for Unit Heads and Program/Department Chairpersons. Engr. Robert Jarquio of the Philippine Trade and Training Center served as the resource speaker in the event.

Dominating once again in sports, the College of Business and Accountancy finished as the over-all champion in this year’s intramurals, April 3-7. Leading early in the competition, the CBA Green Tigers maintained its spot in the top. Closely behind were the College of Education Golden Eagles, who claimed victories in Volleyball, Dance Sports and

Baseball. On the other hand, the College of Engineering Maroon Sharks and the College of Arts and Social Sciences Blue Dolphins were in a close fight for third place. In the end, it was the Maroon Sharks who took over the spot, leading only 21.5 points over the Blue Dolphins to prevail. This year’s intramurals returned
to the one-week scheme or schedule. A new event was also included in this year’s intramurals which is the group stunt for the cheerleading competition. It was piloted with three contenders: the COE Maroon Sharks; the CCS Red Hawks; and the COEd Golden Eagles. The Maroon Sharks were crowned as the first champions of the event.

In commemoration of Earth Day last April 22, the University Planning and Development Office (UPDO) conducted a Seminar on Environmental Laws, Rules and Regulations governing DENR concerns and programs and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation on April 26 at the TSU Main AVR. The activity was attended by the deans, unit heads and other concerned personnel. Sharing insights on the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation was Forester Mariano P. Lagartera, Jr. On the other hand, Forester Ferdinand C. Cabeso, Sr. talked about the relevant environmental laws and its implementation.
