Samantha Beacham and Hannah Haw have been announced as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the La Porte High School Class of 2016. Samantha, the daughter of Denny Beacham and Jennifer Glass of La Porte, plans to attend Texas A & M University, majoring in biomedical sciences, with plans to become a veterinarian specializing in horses. Hannah, the daughter of Jim and Kim Haw of La Porte, hopes to attend Baylor University to study biomedical engineering Members of the La Porte High School administrative staff congratulated honorees at the Top 100 banquet. The event, held in the LPHS Student Center, was made possible by the Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation through a donation to the La Porte Education Foundation. The event included remarks by Lloyd Graham, La Porte ISD superintendent of schools; Kathy Green, representative of the LPISD Board of Trustees; and Todd Schoppe, La Porte High School principal.
