This was stated in a meet- ing here chaired by Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Transport Departments, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana, Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Victor Kaul, Director Sheep Husbandry Dr Sanjeev, Director Fisheries R. NPandita, Director State Motor Garages, Zakir Hussain, Chief Planning Officer Yasir Balwan, ARTO Kishtwar Abay Sharma and other con- cerned. During the meeting, Dr. Samoon took exception of frequent accidents on the district roads and directed for strict enforcement of traffic rules. He directed ARTO Kishtwar to intensify check- ing on roads and cancel the licenses of serial offenders. Dr Samoon also conducted an extensive tour of the dis- trict during which he checked the crash barriers erected on black spots on Batote-Kishtwar Road with transport officials and dis- cussed the ways of prevent- ing incidents in future. He said that the govern- ment has recently allotted Rs 10 crore for strengthen- ing the fleet of buses in the district so that bus drivers don't resort to overloading. Later, Dr. Samoon visited Veterinary Hospital Kishtwar and inspected lab- oratory of Veterinary Hospital, Poultry Hatchery Farm and cold storage room here. He asked concerned offi- cers to setup livestock entre- preneur units and promote sustainable livestock farm- ing and encourage the entre- preneurs in the district. He further directed con- cerned department to estab- lish Liquid Nitrogen Plant in the veterinary hospital. He further visited various private local dairy farms and interacted with locals, farm- ers, youths and heard their issues and demands. Dr. Samoon also visited Dulhasti Dam and was informed that 40,000 seeds were deposited in the dam to increase fish production in the area. On the occasion, Dr Samoon said that Kishtwar has huge potential for differ- ent fishes particularly trout fishes. He directed for encouraging youth to adopt fish farming on the commer- cial level so that unemployed youth would get employment and will cater to local demand of fish. He also visited Sheep Breeding Farm Thathri and under construction site of Polyclinic at Thatri and asked officials to expedite the construction so that it is completed within the set deadline. He asked for setting up new and strengthening exist- ing laboratories for fisheries, and livestock besides refer- ring vacant sanctioned posts in all departments. Earlier, Principal Secretary during the visit to Batote directed SRTC offi- cials for construction of bus yard on allotted seven Kanals of land. Later, he also visited the Shrine of Hazrat Shah Farid ud Din (RA) and Shah Asrar Ud Din (RA) and paid his obeisance here. ‘Govt to setup Vehicle Inspection, Certification Centre in Kishtwar’ STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Reasi on Saturday organised a district level banker review awareness programme under Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (J&KREGP) at the District Headquarters here. The meeting was conduct- ed under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Reasi, Dr Sagar Dattatray Doifode. The meeting was conducted to provide awareness to bankers about J&KREGP. A district-level task force meeting regarding the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme, (J&KREGP) was also held at the occa- sion. The meeting was as part of a regular exercise in which representatives from banks and other stakeholders meet to discuss various aspects of the programme. DDC also discussed vari- ous initiatives to be taken by KVIB as well as by the banks to generate awareness about the programme in the district. District Officer KVIB, Sadiq Hussain briefed the meeting that applicant from rural areas, within 18 and 40 years of age, can avail loans under the programme for setting up their business. A maximum of Rs 25 lakh can be availed under the scheme by any individual. He also expressed the need to con- duct promotional activities at ITIs so that more educated youth avails the benefits of the programme. The meeting was also attended by General Manager DIC Reasi, Anil Kumar, Cluster Head J&K Bank and various bank man- agers of the district. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Saturday held a public grievance redressal camp at Peeri in which issues pertaining to common mass- es were raised. Issues pertaining to road connectivity, electricity, water supply, adequate man- power in health and educa- tional institutions, payments under MGNREGA, SBM, creation of rural infrastruc- ture, sanctioning of ambu- lance, coverage under social welfare and self-employment schemes were put forth by various public deputations. Sarpanchs, Panchs and RESIDENTS of Parori, Rehan, Karhad, Dhar, Gakhrote,Tralla and other areas attended the public meeting and apprised the DDC about problems being faced by them. While replying to queries raised by the public, Assistant Commissioner Development Rajouri Akhter Qazi said that he had direct- ed the Block development officer to clear the pending dues under MGNREGA within one month. Related to PMAY survey, he said 38,000 new benefici- aries have been enrolled and the list would be circulated for the verification within days among the Sarpanchs and Panchs. While assuring the public of timely redressal of issues raised by them, the DDC said numerous initiatives are underway to strengthen the roads, PDD and PHE infra- structure in the area besides ensuring the provision of other amenities of life. DDC directed Chief Education Officer Rajouri for resolving various schools related issues. He said it will be ensured that under Saubhagya elec- trification of left out house- holds is completed at an ear- liest. Regarding the con- struction of various internal roads, DDC informed that the concerned department will project them under lan- guishing projects for the funds. He directed the officers to start the blacktopping work on the Kotedhara Peeri road. In order to redress the issues of water shortage, DDC directed the XEn PHE to plan projects on water supply schemes so that the shortage of drinking water in the area could be solved. DDC informed that in order to sensitise farmers about the latest technology and about high yielding seeds variety, the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments in collaboration with other con- cerned will organise a farmer awareness camp in Peeri soon. He also informed that to enrol all the left out beneficiaries under old age or widow pension, the Department of Social Welfare Rajouri will organise a mega awareness as well as enrollment camp within 10 days. Later, DDC inspected the under construction girls hostel and directed the concerned agency to expedite work on it for its timely completion. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Kamal Gupta said that the people of J&K espe- cially the voters of Jammu province will never forgive the power hungry legislators who got clear mandate from the people of Jammu but betrayed them and never raised their voice against PDP for wrong policies, dis- crimination, zero develop- ment, corruption and nepo- tism. "Back door employment was on rise and the aspira- tions of the unemployed youth were dashed to the ground and promises made during elections were all hal- low," Gupta told reporters. Kamal, while lambasting the complete failure of BJP- PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, said that it was the most unfortunate day when PDP-BJP Government was formed in the State. Right from the day one, he said, NCP opposed the unwanted alliance of both the parties crowned by an outsider Ram Madhav. It was a historical blunder which got later exposed. The alliance intensified the Kashmir crises. He said that the educated youth who are the future of India have been neglected by BJP-PDP Government and made to suffer. No substantial eco- nomic and job package was framed for their rehabilita- tion, he said. The Mela and exhibition was inaugurated by Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma. The MP said the purpose of introduction of new technolo- gies and good agriculture practices is to make the life of a farmer easy. He maintained that agricultural marketing reforms are being undertaken with special stress on the for- mation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) for value addition and increasing income. He said more such melas/exhibitions should be organised to acquaint the farmers about the latest tech- niques being used in the farm- ing sector and reiterated that such events open a pathway for farmers to get information about scientific knowledge, modern technology and pro- ductivity. Director Agriculture Jammu impressed upon the farming community to inter- act with the farm scientists, experts and extension func- tionaries to get up to date methodology in the cultivation of crops on scientific lines. Earlier, Narender Misra Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba presented a keynote address and details of schemes taken up by the department of agriculture for promotion of the agriculture sector in the district.
