The opportunity to parade guards from theRAN, ARMY and the US Marine Corps poseda challenge for Ihe Parade and Ceremonial Staffof HMAS CERBERUS.

As can be expected. orders and drills were somewhat 'dif­ferent' .

The anomalies were soon rectified with practice and re­s(Xlnding to orders given by one person only.

In this case the 'one person' was POQMG 'Brer' Fox.The US Marines were part of the 3rd Manne Expedltlon­

ary Force stationed in Okinawa and under the command of1st Lieutenant Ste\'c Zidek and always under the crillcal eyeof SGTMAJ Patrick McLane who made a whirlwind visit toVictOria which lasted a short five days.

These particular marines arc on a six months deploymentfrom Camp Pendleton in California to Okinawa.

Just prior to deparlure for Australia. the marines spent anumber of weeks living in the fields of Korea during Exer­cise TEAM SPIRIT.

During their Slay the squad was kept busy with drills. re­hearsals, PT and. on the social side. tours into the heart ofVictoria. a visit to the city and also organised visits to thelocal RSL where they were very well received.

It was another impressive display by TheCats with points honours going to Waxx Waldie one, MickRcis two. J .C. Camphell won the man of the match.

The Killers were then up against a formidable WAT­SON unit in the second match. WATSON ran out winners12-0 (three tries to nil) with the determined. but luckless.Killers putting up some stiff opposition.

Good players for the Killers included breakaway PeterPOrier and fullback Tony Cocks with half Squizzy Taylorvoted man of the match.

These twO matches marked a milestone in NA VY Rugbyas it was the first time any ship has taken on three e3tab­lishments in the same afternoon - considerable effort con­sidering the 190 crew.

Hooker Jeff Bament and fullback Doug Green. bothPERTH representatives. received severe injuries in thefirst half of (he match against KUTfABUL. which theGreens won 56-nil.

Bament received a frightening neck injury late in thefirst balf when a serum collapsed. An intensive care ambu­lance and the Westpac helicopter were called in and he wastaken to Sydncy·s Prince Henry Hospital.
