Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

60 Minutes Video

After the decline of the Ottoman Empire, which ruled Palestine for four centuries, Palestine was placed under the British Mandate for Palestine in 1922

The division of this mandate and the creation of Israel in 1948, which stemmed from a Zionist movement to create a homeland for Jews from around the world, led to disputes about land

The key issues in the conflict include mutual recognition, borders, security, water rights, control of Jerusalem, land rights, and legalities concerning refugees
