ALL THINGS CONSIDERED LENT & PENANCE Lent is a time to turn away from sin to live the Gospel more fully. We are invited to ritual-ize this change of heart by bringing our sin to the Sacra-ment of Penance. Monday, March 26 (7 pm) Communal Celebration Individual Celebrations: Tues., March 27: 11 am-12 noon & 7- 8:30 pm Wed., March 28: 11 am – 12 pm & 4:30 to 5:30 pm. I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities to celebrate the richness of God’s mercy! THREE DAYS THAT MATTER The Triduum, the three day celebration of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, will soon be here.

The Triduum celebrates the pass over of the Lord Jesus from death to life, a wonderful truth that is the very core of what we believe as Christians.

Triduum is another name for the special Liturgy that begins on Holy Thursday evening with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. That service does not really end, we simply leave with the Lord to watch & pray with Him until midnight, when we disperse as we recall His arrest. The next day, Good Friday, we gather in silence to witness His condemnation and execution. Again, the service does not end, we simply depart until we gather on Holy Saturday evening to witness & celebrate the resurrection.

This year I invite you to truly celebrate your faith by joining in the Triduum (March 29 – 30 - 31). STORIES of the PARISH Our 25

th Anniversary Task

Group is hoping to gather pictures and stories that span our 25 years.

If you have photos you took at parish events, min-istries in action, etc., please email them to: [email protected]. These will be posted in the east and north hallways for folks to see over the course of the year.

We are also looking for stories of how the parish has been important to you and your family. You can email your story to our story editor, Skip Dorrington: [email protected].

In my “spare time” over the last few months I have been writing the story of our 25 years. It would be won-derful to include your stories in the larger bulletin over the course of this anniversary year! STAFF CHANGES Two of our staff have informed me they intend to retire ahead of me. One is Kathie Anderer, who has been the director of our Preschool. The other is Dave Wisniewski who has been our bookkeeper. Both have been with us for a long while and will be sorely missed. Both positions are part time; application forms and qualifications will be posted on our website after East-er.

EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION

OF THE LORD

Acts of the Apostles 10:34-43 In this reading, we see a progression of action. Peter is in the house of Cornelius. He is describing the activity of the Christian faith from the baptism John announced up to the pre-sent time.

Colossians 3:1-4 Although some believers think of the Christ event as something that existed only in the past and that we merely remember this now, this read-ing for Easter Sunday clearly weds the life of Christ with the life of those in the Church right now.

Matthew 28:1-10 Matthew’s Resurrection narrative recounts that as Mary Magdalen and another Mary ar-rived at Jesus’ tomb, they first encountered an earth-quake, depicting to the Jews an Old Testament signal of both the action of God and the dawning of a new age. Now the new age fully dawns, with Jesus’ Resurrection confirming the act of God and releasing the power of Divine Life.

Reflect: What does the Resurrection mean for you?

YOUTH NEWS

Margaret Callaghan

RELIGIOUS FORMATION NEWS

Roxanne Hundsrucker

This year the school’s spring break begins this week, Palm Sunday. This means that many families will be traveling out of town, me and mine included. I pray for safety, good times and memory-making moments. Being that it is Holy Week, and the Triduum starts on Thursday, I pray that all those traveling will set aside some time each day for reflection and special time with God. This is a beautiful time of the year in the church and I pray you find your own quiet time during all the fun this week. Your Dearborn Meat order will be in on Tuesday, March 27, for pick up between noon and 7pm in the Youth Room. Enter at the activity door. Thank you for your purchase and support. Current and past St. Mary Magdalen Youth Group Members!! St. Mary Magdalen is celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year! We have been asked to write sto-ries of what St. Mary Magdalen has meant to us, per-sonally. I am asking that you, as a member of our youth group (whether in years past or today), please consider taking some time to write a reflection about your in-volvement here. It would be great to hear from you! We have a two week break from our Sunday evening Youth Alpha sessions and will resume on Sunday, April 8th at 6:30 pm. EDGE From the Middle School Rally a few weeks ago…..

We meet only two more times in April, on Monday the 9th and then on the 23rd.

Holy Week begins TODAY with Palm Sunday We begin the Holiest Week of the year today! There is so much going on this week, please join us as we pre-pare for the coming of the Lord. At the Seder Meal hosted by our Community Life team and Father Dave. We will celebrate the reflection of our Jewish Heritage observed on the evening before Holy Thursday. The Triduum (which in Latin means the three days (tri- = three, -dies = days) begins the evening of Holy Thursday and continues through the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. Liturgically these three days are one, continuous day. The Easter Triduum begins the celebra-tion of the death an resurrection of Jesus Christ. Join us on Holy Thursday “The Mass of the Lord’s Supper” at 7:30 pm. This is not only an awesome Liturgy but a great formation opportunity for our children. On Good Friday “Stations of the Cross” is at 1 pm and at 7:30 pm “The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion.” Join us at noon on Saturday for the “Easter Egg Hunt” and bring your Easter dinner basket at 2 pm for a blessing. Then at 8 pm join us for the Easter Vigil. Have you ever attended the Easter Vigil? What an experience! The celebration of light that begins outside with a great fire and the lighting of the Easter candle and candles we each light from the flame of the Easter candle. We celebrate the sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist and we proclaim the great “alleluia”.

Journey with Jesus (JWJ) Vacation Bible School We need adults to help us before, during, and after for clean-up. Some help can be done from home such as decorations, registration, and even putting together craft kits. The week of JWJ is July 30– August 3, 2018 and our theme is Shipwrecked Rescued by Jesus.” During the week of JWJ we bring together about 100 participants and about 50 pre-teen/teen helpers. It is necessary to have about 15 adults during the week of JWJ and it is necessary that they all attend a Virtus training prior to the week. It is important we have adults commit to helping make this week a continued suc-cess. Confirmation Retreat for our current 9th grade youth is set for August 10/11 and will be overnight. Please make sure to mark your calendars! It is the re-quired that all Candidates attend a retreat prior to the sacrament. More information will follow in June. Watch your mail and email in June. We do not have a date for Confirmation yet; it will be a Saturday Liturgy most like-ly in November or December depending on the Bish-op’s schedule.
