Palmer Homestead has a long and deeply-rooted history in Fayetteville-Manlius beginning in 1804 when the home’s original structure was built, then acquired by the Palmer family in 1805 and substantially ex-panded into the existing structure in 1825. Brief History On Palmer Homestead Elias “Sanford” Palmer (1741-1821), of Stonington, CT, was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War, serving as Lieutenant in the NY Campaign in 1776. Following his service he purchased a soldier's right of 600 acres in Manlius, NY. In 1805, one of Sanford’s 11 children, Charles, relocated to settle on one-half of that acreage with his wife, Asenath Main Palmer. In 1812, Sanford followed, the Palmer Homestead in existence today was completed in 1825, and it had been continuously occupied by their descendants for over 150 years.
