PALO ALTO HILL S
he town hall meeting regarding the golf course renovation is set for Thursday, November 19. It would be great if you could
attend the meeting as we would like your valuable input. The Board will be there along with the golf architects and Andrew, our course superintendent, to address your concerns. We have noticed over the last few months that some guests have not been adhering to the dress code policies, especially on the golf course and dining areas. Please be aware of the dress code; there are certain standards we need to keep. I would like to congratulate Joy Craft and Roger Pineda on winning the Women’s and Men’s Club Championships as well as Elaine Nolet and Gil Varnell on winning the Women’s and Men’s Senior Club Championships. Congratulations also go to Mike and Janie Pollano on winning the His and Hers Club Championships. Thank you all for playing in the tournaments; it’s a great way to meet people in the Club. I would like to welcome our new Board Members: Dave Barram, Julie Baigent and Shirley Lee. I’d also like to thank existing Board Members, Gary Elliott, Tom Walsh, Jackie Yao, Tracey Moison and George Shenk for giving your time and effort for the Club. Lastly, I want to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving,
happy holiday season and a prosperous new year. Cheers Eoin O’NeillPAH President
Wow have there been a lot of changes over the last 12 months. We have so many New Members it becomes difficult sometimes to identify the Members from the Guests. But that is a good thing! It means that Palo Alto Hills is full, doing well financially and there is a lot of positive energy flowing in and out of the Club.
With all of our New Members, we understand that it is sometimes hard to remember all the Club rules. I encourage everyone to spend some time on the website and look at the Rules and Regulations. If not all of them, then please do review specifically the dress code for the different areas of the Club. Management will begin to enforce the dress code in all areas as we need to maintain our image as one of a private club. Remember that children ages 6 and up must adhere to the adult dress code. The largest issue we are having is t-shirts. T-shirts may be worn in the Fitness Center and pool area only. Please help us to maintain the integrity of the Club and inform your Guests of our dress code as well. Thank you.
I hope that everyone has big plans for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas and New Year. Please make your reservation for the Fall Harvest Buffet and Children’s Holiday Party - everyone’s favorite Elf will be back again this year! The Club will not be hosting a New Year’s Eve party. We are looking into a special deal for the Four Seasons in Palo Alto for our Members; we had done this once before and they put together a very nice package.
“There being no place like this place, near this place, then this place must be the place!”
See you at the ClubDirk Zander, CCM

SECRETS TO HEALTHY EATING AND WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE HOLIDAYS
ouldn’t it be great to actually boost your health during the holiday season, instead of worrying about how much weight you might gain? The holidays are a busy time full of fun, food and stress. That doesn’t mean that our health and body have to suffer.
Once you know the key strategies and shifts to make, the holidays can actually be a time for healthy eating and dessert too!
COMPLIMENTARY NUTRITION SEMINAR DURING WELLNESS DAY
Join Julie Scott, Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club Nutritionist, for a fun and informative seminar on healthy holiday eating and weight loss. Even if you feel good about your weight, there will be ideas and health boosting tips that you will be sure to benefit from learning.
This complimentary seminar is offered at the Fitness Center as part of Wellness Day on Saturday, November 7 with smoothie tasting in the lobby and a holiday healthy eating talk at 11:00am. Get more information about Wellness Day on page 7.
If you haven’t met Julie, this is a great time to meet her and learn more about what nutrition can do for you. If you have met Julie, this is a great time to see her again and get some tips on healthy eating.

PAH is offering body fat testing at the Club with Fitness Wave.
This is the most efficient way to test body fat. As body fat testing, rather than simple
scale weight, has become “the standard” in this new millennium,
Hydrostatic Testing (Underwater Weighing) has become
universally regarded by industry experts as the “Gold Standard” in testing.
By obtaining your land weight and water weight (based on buoyancy),
the specialized program can calculate your body fat as a percentage of your
total weight.
Learn more about hydrostatic testing with Fitness Wave and make an
appointment online at www.fitnesswavenorcal.com.
