How would I address concerns about my student's overall academic progress?
• Contact each teacher directly. Email addresses and phone extensions are available through aeries and pvphs.com.
• After speaking with the teachers, call or email your student's school counselor.
• Monitor progress through aeries. If you do not have an aeries account, please contact the registrar at ext. 280.
• Develop a plan for success with your student and ask to see completed homework on a very regular basis.
• Discuss grade expectations and clearly define rewards and consequences with your student.
Investigate tutoring options. Consider the possibility that a student has
selected an inappropriate academic schedule and investigate changes if within the first 6 weeks of school or at the end of the first semester.
Investigate the commitment to extracurricular activities to determine if your student has enough time to complete coursework. Students may need to spend less hours in activities or drop an activity all together.
Be aware of your student's sleep patterns as a lack of sleep can impede the learning process.
What options do I have if I am worried about my student's social/emotional well being?
• Speak to your student's counselor or to the Safe School Counselor, Mrs. Lopez (ext 274).
• Know your student's friends and their parents if at all possible.
• Spend time with your student doing activities that are enjoyable. Do not speak about school or college unless your student initiates the conversation.
If I am uncomfortable/dissatisfied with events during a student's extracurricular activity associated with our
campus, what should I do?
Speak directly with the coach or moderator. If you do not receive a response to your initial call or
email, try an additional time. If you still have not been able to express your concern,
please contact the Athletic Director, Mr. Yoshida (ext. 692) for all concerns regarding athletics and the Associate Principal responsible for discipline issues, Mr. Wanmer (ext.691) for questionable behavior during activities on campus.
Contact the School Counselor or Safe School Counselor for issues regarding your student's safety or emotional well-being.
How do I stay informed as to daily events on campus?
• Daily Bulletin - Please call the registrar (ext.
280) if you are not receiving the daily bulletin.
• Principal's Weekly Update

What do I do if my child is missing school?
• If your student is ill and unable to attend school, please contact the attendance office (ext. 681 or ext 682) to report the absence each day missed.
• If your student does not attend class and you have not called, the absence will be considered a truancy. Excessive truancies or tardies can result in a student being dropped from a class and losing credits necessary for graduation.
• If your student will miss school for 5 or more days, please call ext. 681 to discuss your options for obtaining assignments.
• Just a reminder that if you take your student out of school for a reason other than illness, the teacher may not allow the student the opportunity to make-up assignments or tests and quizzes.
• Students cannot learn if they are not attending classes.
