a Support distance is characteristic of profile identity and sheet thickness and is not related to profile configuration (width and overlap). The profile configurations depicted above are the most common.b Detailed information on all profile configurations (including dimensions in inches) appears in the PALRUF and SUNTUF Profiles Catalogue. Spacing for configurations not shown or spacing in inches will be supplied upon request.c Other thicknesses and widths are available. See page 16. Thickness and configuration are independent parameters.

The configuration information is valid for all thicknesses of a given profile.d The values shown are for the configuration depicted. Computation of % overlap differs from that apppearing in PALRUF and SUNTUF Profiles Catalogue. % Overlap = ((width - Net Coverage)/width) x 100%)

e Values depend on thickness. Those listed are for the values appearing under thickness in the same row. The theoreticalgross weight per sqm. Depicts the value for the sheeting in itself, without taking into account the overlapping percentage.

f The supports spacing depicted here are based on the assumption that the installation instructions are carefully followed, including the use of the Sheet-to-Sheet stitching fasteners (or screws) along the overlapping corrugations.

g Supports spacing values shown, are based partly on actual load tests performed, and partly on empirical experience gained out of field use, theoretical calculations, educated estimates, extrapolations and evaluations made according to similar, or parallel products. Actual values may be updated later on, due to further testing and evaluations

h Max. Suggested Supports Span shown for the Asbestos profiles (of both widths and gages), are really theoretical. Theseprofiles are meant as a replacement for the obsolete previous Asbestos panels, which are now banned from use, andpractically installed on the same structure and existing smaller spans as dictated by the previous cladding. There is usually no use of this type of profile in new structures.

i Deflection at max. load depicted-(useful wind/uplift or snow workloads) is up to 1/20 (5%) of the proposed purlins span.j Relationship between wind velocity and wind load: 100 km/hr is equivalent to a wind load of 50 kg/m2, 130 km/hr is equivalent to 80 kg/m2 and 150 km/hr is equivalent to 100 kg/m2k Slopes of les than 10% are not recommended. If chosen, the support spacing needs to be reduced by up to 60% (depending on the actual slope chosen), due to the reduced possibility of self-cleaning and lower rate of rainwater evacuation, necessitating much smaller deflection.

PALRUF sheets retain their physical properties and attractive appearance despite exposure to various climactic

conditions. They withstand humidity, rain and snow and provide weather protection over a large temperature range,

from -20C (-4F) to 50C (120F). Proven weather resistance ensures the long-term flawless performance of PALRUF

    sheets.

    Weather Resistance

    UV Protection

PALRUF Clear is UV stabilized and recommended

for use in regions where heat and sun radiation

are not intense. For regions where UV radiation

is intense, PALRUF UV sheets are offered with a UV

protective layer on the upper side of the sheet.

PALRUF UV sheets offer superior UV resistance and

retain their properties for many years. PALRUF

Opaque sheets are offered in white, light grey, light

blue and beige colors. They are inherently

protected by an internal UV absorber. PALRUF

Opaque UV are opaque sheets which are UV

    protected by a protective layer.

The graph above compares the % light transmission

of PALRUF Clear UV with fiberglass as a function of QUV exposure hours. After 1000 hours of QUV exposure, PALRUF

white opaque sheets retained their appearance and propers. The change in yellowness index was not detectectable

by the eye. QUV is an accelerated laboratory weathering test. It entails exposing samples to 20 hours of intense

artificial UV radiation followed by 4 hours of exposure to high humidity without UV radiation. A constant temperature

of approximately 48C is maintained. Testing is carried out for up to 2000 hours. 100 hours of QUV exposure are

approximately equivalent to one year of outdoor exposure to solar UV radiation in regions such the USA's Southwest,

    Australia and the Middle East.

Thermal insulation is an important factor to consider when choosing roofing, siding

or cladding material due to its impact on energy expenditure. Studies have shown

that light Opaque PALRUF PVC sheets offer excellent advantages over painted and

galvanized steel sheets due to the low thermal conductivity of PVC compared to

that of steel. Even installation of PALRUF sheets without additional insulation can

reduce energy expenditure by up to 50%, as compared to that required with steel

or aluminum roofs, attributable to reduced entry of heat in the summer and loss

    of heat in the winter.

    Chemical Resistance

The mechanism of chemical attack on thermoplastics in general, and Palram PVC sheetsin particular, differs significantly from the mechanism of corrosion of metals. Corrosion ofmetals results in a gradual loss of surface material as a result of electrolytic action by therelevant chemicals. Chemical attack on Palram PVC sheet, where it occurs, consists generallyof absorption of the chemical by the PVC sheet and its subsequent swelling. The chemicalresistant behavior of Palram PVC sheet is therefore simple to determine. The chemicalresistance is expressed in terms of weight change (usually an increase) and volume change.

PALRUF Corrugated PVC sheets provide exceptional resistance against the followingclasses of chemicals in both liquid and vapor form:

Mineral Acids Alkalis Plating Solutions Paper Making Chemicals Pickling Solutions Most Inorganic Compounds Alcohols Aliphatic Hydrocarbons Glycols Amines & Phenols

PALRUF PVC sheets should not come into contact with acetone, ethers, esters oraromatic hydrocarbons.

More detailed information is available in the pamphlet, PALRAM Industries ChemicalResistance of PVC Sheets. Installation of PALRUF requires the use of sealants.Detailed information on comptable sealants is available in the leaflet, Adhesivesand Sealants for PVC Sheets.
