PALS Tips for Using Excel:

How to Format the Date-of-Birth Column for your SDU File

1. Log in to your PALS Online account. From the Division Home Page, select Upload SDU.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Download Template. This will open a

blank template of the .csv file that you’ll be filling in. (See also the View Requirements

link for formatting requirements.)

3. Enter the student record information for your SDU.

4. Column R (the 18th column) is the date of birth column. Highlight the entire column.

5. Right-click to bring up the Format Cells menu.

6. From the Number tab, select Date.

7. From the Type menu, select the choice in the format xx/xx/xxxx and hit OK.

8. All of your SDU birth dates should now be properly formatted. You can now proceed to

finalizing and uploading your SDU.
