Acoustic Pulse Reflectometry (APR)

.

Acoustic Eye’s breakthrough, non- invasive solution for today’s hard-to-inspect tubes up to 4” inner diameter enables ultra-fast, accurate inspection of boilers, Fin Fans and other heat exchangers, regardless of tube shape or material.

Acoustic Pulse Reflectometry (APR) technology, Dolphin G3™ overcomes the limitations of many conventional inspection techniques, most challenging tube sizes and configurations and increases inspection cycle efficiency and operational cost savings.

» Tube size ID from 8.00mm up to 104.00mm

»Boilers, Fin Fans, Condensers, Heat exchangers

»U-bends, twisted and spiral wound tubes

»Ferrous and non ferrous materials and plastics

»Ultra fast, less than 10 seconds per tube

»Fast enough for 100% inspection when needed

»Ideal for emergency situations

»No need for inventory of consumables, probes

Internal Rotating Inspection System (IRIS)

Inspect Heat Exchanger, Air Fin Cooler and Boiler Tubes. Can be applied from diameter 15 mm and thickness

greater than 1 mm. Pitting 1 mm as small as can be easily detected. Real time and continuous Color C-Scan presentation. Full tube length recording capability. Exact wall remaining thickness. Can accurately measure and display internal and external

flaw indications. Internal tube surface must be much cleaned.

Magnetic Flux Leakage Testing (MFL)

Suitable for ferromagnetic tube such as those found in air cooler and heat exchangers Very good sensitivity to pitting, circumferential cracks and wall loss Inspection speed can goes up to 1 m/s The signal output is sensitive to speed variation The sizing of defect is limited because there is no phase component on the signal The fill factor is similar to eddy-current technique

Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is a fast inspection technique, effective for aluminum-finned carbon steel tubes, because the magnetic field is almost completely unaffected by the presence of such fins.

Eddy Current Testing (ECT)

ECT can be used to inspect Non-Ferrous Tubes ( e.g. SA249-TP304L, SA249-TP316, Brass, Titanium, ect Eddy Current testing is suitable for detection, sizing and quantified, affordable and quick method of inspection.

Can detect ID / OD pitting, fretting, stress cracks, localized corrosion

Fast method inspection. Able to inspect 700 tubes with 6m length per day, subjected to tubes conditions.

It’s possible to detect and quantify defects under support plates

Insmech Engineering uses most advanced Eddy Current probes:

Eddy Current Array and Eddy Current flexible probes

Surface Eddy Current Testing

Surface Eddy Current is applied for detection of cracks on surface and sub-surface (2mm to 4mm depth) of conductive materials. The method is very sensitive for detection of tight cracks. Both non-ferromagnetic (e.g. stainless steel, Inconel, Al Bronze etc.) and magnetic materials (carbon steel) can be inspected.

Remote Field Electromagnetic Testing (RFET)

Suitable for ferromagnetic tubes such as those found in heat exchangers and boilers. Able to detect localized corrosion, pitting and gradual wall loss. Equally sensitive to internal and external flaws. Can inspect tubes up to 75mm OD with 12mm thickness. Relatively insensitive to probe liftoff or wobble. Typical pull speed between 6” and 12” per second.

Conventional NDT 1. Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) 2. Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT) 3. Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
