• Carica papaya, is a powerhouse of nutrients, it contains both macro and micronutrients and several enzymes.

Active ingredients• Papaya contains a chemical called papain, which is commonly

used as a meat tenderizer.• Papain breaks down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. That’s

why it works as a meat tenderizer. However, papain is changed by digestive juices, so there is some question about whether it could be effective as a medicine when taken by mouth.

Mechanism of action

• Major digestion problems occur when undigested food reaches lower intestine. This happens particularly in case of eating large quantities of meat with fast speed. The natural digestive enzymes produced in the pancreas and stomach acids generally can’t meet the digestion requirements under those conditions. (Tenenhouse, Harriet S. Deutsch, H. F.1966)

• Unlike carbohydrates, which get digested by saliva produced during chewing, protein do not get digested by saliva. Protein digestion has a different mechanism. Protein gets digested with the help of proteolytic enzymes produced in the pancreas.
