    Abstract

This manuscript describes how to prepare papers for the annual Seminar Nasional Teknologi Kelautan: Teori danAplikasi Teknologi Kelautan (SENTA) 2010. The abstract should be written in English while the full paper can be

written in English or in Bahasa Indonesia. Use the Arial font with the size of 8 pt for abstract. Prints of theproceedings including full papers will be provided at the seminar venue on 9 December, 2010. The author(s) shouldread the instructions to prepare papers which are clear, concise and uniformly presented, in a style readily

understood by readers. This manuscript itself is regarded as a paper template.

Keywords:camera-ready manuscript, single column text, MS-Word file, punctuality.

    1. General

This chapter suggests the basic rules:1) Present the material simply and concisely.2) Use single spacing on A4-sized paper.3) Cross-check several times to eliminate errors, superfluous material and repetition.4) Use figures, photographs and tables sparingly; plan their format to use page space

economically.5) Put figures, photographs and tables at the proper position in the text.6) Ensure that the number of pages including figures, photographs and tables does not exceed 8.

Please submit MS-Word file (in any version) as completed manuscripts (camera-readymanuscripts) including the diagrams and photographs. The proceedings will be printed in blackonly. Keep it in mind when the use of color is unavoidable.

The full paper can be written in English or in Bahasa Indonesia.

1.1. Page setupAll script should be typed on A4-sized (210mm x 297mm) white paper, single spaced. Keep propermargins such as top (30mm), bottom (25mm), left (35mm) and right (25mm).

1.2. FontUse the Arial font with the size of 10 pt for the body text. Note that 10.5-pt fonts should be usedfor the paper title only. Authors name(s) and affiliation including e-mail address in the first pageshould be written using the Arial font with the size of 10-pt.

1.3. The title Avoid titles that are too long (maximum 300 characters); the titles should be in bold-faced with

1.6. The abstractThe abstract should present the outline and main points of the paper and give the principalconclusions. It should be a single paragraph of no more than 250 words. The heading Abstractcentered and should be written using Arial bold font with the size of 10-pt. Abstract bodyshould be presented in English. Please use the Arial italic font with the size of 8-pt. AddKeywords (three to six items) after the abstract.

1.7. HeadingsFour ranks of heading may be used chapter, section, subsection, and sub-subsection. Use theheading styles:1. Chapter, 1.1 Section, and (1) Subsection and (a) Sub-subsection. Put a space line beforeeach heading. Put a single space line after only the chapter headings.

1.8. ParagraphsPlease put a single space line between paragraphs.

    2. Numerals, Unit and Mathematics

2.1. Numerals1) Numerals of five or more digits are grouped in three-digit blocks by spaces, e.g. 12,345 (if

written in English) or 12.345 (if written in Bahasa Indonesia).2) Pay attention a significant figure and avoid an unnecessary long digit number.

    2.2. Units

Use SI unit or SI derived units.

2.3. MathematicsExtreme care should be taken in preparing mathematical typescripts. All mathematics should belegible, precise and carefully aligned. The following shows an example of putting an equation inthe text:

    Y = A + B X (1)

where YandXare the output and input variables, respectively;A and Bare constants.

Italic character should be used as variable. On the other hands, the Times New Romancharacter should be used as function e.g. sin, exp, log.

As in above, equations should be at the left-hand margin; while the equation number displayedexpressions with Arabic numerals in parenthesis should be at the right-hand margin. Put spacelines both before and after the equation(s).

    3 Figures, Photographs and Tables

    1) Figures, photographs and tables should appear at proper places in the text.2) The width of figures, photographs and tables should be full width.3) For references to them belonging to the paper, use, e.g. Figure 2., Photo 1. and Table 4.4) The captions are put under that for figure and the photograph and put on that for the table

    (please see the example).

    4. Acknowledgment, Appendix and References

4.1 Acknowledgment and appendixPlace essential acknowledgment(s) between the last chapter and the reference list, after whichappendix(es) should appear.

Put a photo in this space surrounded by broken line. This line is not necessary

    in your manuscript.

Figure. 1. Put the caption for figure 1 here. Use an appropriate and as clear as possiblecaption for the figure.

Put a figure in this space surrounded by broken line. This line is not

4.2 ReferencesEvery text citation must be listed under the heading References centered at the end of the text.Conversely, all entries in the reference list must be cited in the text: those not cited should notappear in the list.

In text, references should be quoted in the form: Sambodho (2009), Sassa and Sekiguchi (1999)and Sekiguchi et al. (2007). An and should be used between the names of two joint authors,

and et al. when there are three or more authors (but include all names in the reference list). When quoting reference at the end of a sentence, do as this (Sambodho, 2009; Sekiguchi et al.,2007).

In the reference list, arrange references (A) in alphabetical other according to surname of thefirst author; (B) in date order (oldest first) for multiple entries by the same author(s). If two ormore references are published in the same year by the same author(s), use 1987a, 1987b andso on. Examples are given in the reference list as below.

    5. Acknowledgment, Appendix and References

The conclusion of this paper should be briefly written with some future subjects and views.Acknowledgement, references and appendix are written under conclusions

The complete MS-Word files (in any version) should be submitted via e-mail to KriyoSambodho,Ocean Engineering Department, Faculty of Marine Technology, ITS-Surabaya([email protected]), by the due date (deadline) announced separately.

Note that the Organizing Committee may ask the author(s) to correct the submitted file if itincludes too many points that violate the rules suggested here.

    Acknowledgements

The authors would like to express their gratitude to the Organizing Committee members for theirconstructive comments and suggestions in reviewing the previous versions of this instruction.
