CRCT Family Night: Hotdog Supper

This night is set aside for parents to learn about our state test, the CRCT. Parents attend grade specific workshops and families enjoy a hotdog supper.

Fall Festival We have a “just for fun” Fall Festival each year in October. Families enjoy a relaxed evening together.

Family Night: Chicken Supper Each Spring we invite families to join us for an old fashioned social. We have a delicious fried chicken supper and a variety of family-focused events for them to enjoy. Last year we kicked off our “healthy kids” campaign with a Family Mile Walk/Run in the gym.

Market Day

Our families support fifth grade students as they plan a business. This engaging activity involves math, economics, social studies, and much more. Students set up a business and “sell” their product. This is always a big hit.

Grade level Programs and Talent Show

Each grade level hosts a program during the year. Parents enjoy these opportunities to watch their children perform. Every child has the chance to participate.

Chorus Nights • Holiday Concert• Spring Concert

Parents enjoy an evening of music twice a year when our 4th and 5th grade chorus performs. The holiday concert is held outdoors and families are surrounded with a beautiful display of luminaries.

Wax Museum Fifth grade students celebrate famous Americans throughout history by “becoming” that person at our popular Wax Museum. The Wax Museum is open to families in the evening.

ELL Program

Taylors Creek offers support to parents who speak English as a second language. Our websites and written communications are translated into the family’s native language. The ELL teacher coordinates events for our ELL families. They kick off the year with an ELL Family Pizza Party and Information Session.

Annual Parent SurveyThe school principal uses Survey Monkey each Spring to create and send out a parent survey. The leadership team use parent responses to improve school activities.

Automated Phone System

The school principal is able to communicate via home phone and or cell phone with all parents at the same time. For example, if there is an unscheduled weather day, the principal can send a taped phone message to every phone in the system. She is also able to send automated phone reminders special events on the calendar.

Student’s Encouraging Parent Involvement

Students have become involved in encouraging parent involvement; two clubs (the Parent Involvement Club, and the School Ambassadors Club) both assist with making the school a friendly and warm place to visit.

More

We encourage parent volunteers to help with a variety of tasks throughout the school. We have parents who help with costumes for school programs, ELL parents who help with translating, parents who help teachers in the classrooms, and more. We are very thankful for our volunteers!

Career Day Our parents help us with Career Day, a special program organized by the school’s Guidance Counselor. Parents talk to students about their jobs and about the importance of reading and mathematics in their job. Our goal is to promote the idea that “School Is Important!”.
