DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP Class starts at 8:45 promptly Classroom door will open at 8:30

Pick-up at… 3:15 (2:15 Wednesday)

Children with no siblings in the Lower School Children with siblings in Grades K-2

3:30 (2:30 Wednesday) Children with siblings in Grades 3-5

A Kindergarten Teacher will be there with the children. If you park and walk with your child, please inform the duty teacher that you are leaving.

Clubs: A Kindergarten Teacher will walk all children to clubs at 3:30

Bus: A Kindergarten Teacher will walk children to the bus at 3:20

Class and Grade Communication We (teachers) will post news and information throughout the week, as in the pastYou (parents) will receive an email reminder on Monday evenings to check Class and Grade Communication (blog) – “Monday Memo”You (parents) can subscribe to receive an email every time an item is added to the Class and Grade Communication (blog) if you would like that, otherwise you will just receive the Monday MemoSubscribing is easy – the link is in the Monday Memo email and on the campus page of the Community Portal

All school and campus informationAll school and campus news, including letters from the principals, will be published in the Community Portal as ZISLinks News on ThursdaysYou will continue to be sent an email alert on Thursdays at 1pm to remind you to log into the Community Portal.Please read the all school section as well as the campus page/s relevant to your child/ren.You can also sign up to receive an alert each time a new item is posted to the principal’s blog.

OtherBus changes: Parents must complete the change of routine form on the main zis.ch website, under quick links. Changes will not be made unless the form is filled out.Please ensure that you cc Assistant teachers on all communication.

OTHER ROUTINES Birthdays If you would like, you may send small treats such as cookies or cupcakes with your child on

their special day. Please let us know in advance. Birthday invitations- Please post or email directly to the families, as these will not be

distributed in the class.

Clothing Please provide a pair of indoor shoes that can double up as P.E. shoes – no crocs and

other backless slippers as these can be dangerous on the stairs. Please provide your child with a pair of rain boots, rain trousers and a rain jacket. These

need to be in school at all times as we go outside no matter what the weather and we also do visit the forest every week. Please be aware that there are ticks in the forest.

Please ensure that your child has an extra pair of trousers, a shirt, a pair of socks and a pair of underwear at school in case of emergencies.

P.E/Creative Arts students must wear clothing suitable for movement.

PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING, DRINK BOTTLES AND LUNCH CONTAINERS.

Independent reading program will start in September with books being sent home

Reading is not just a home program but a partnership Reading at school

Children are read to Children read with their peers and teachers Children read independently

Writing Children will explore different forms of writing Each unit has opportunities for writing Daily writing practice takes place

TECHNOLOGY

Integration of ipads and smartboards

LEARNING PATHS Individual Four times a year based on personal goals, PYP trans-disciplinary skills –

Social, Self management and Communication skills across all subject and learning areas

READING PROGRAMME Each child has a day when they will read a book to a teacher. They should then go

home and read that book with a parent. Children are welcome to change their books as often as they like but they must bring their reading folder back on that day every week.

SHARED SNACK

We would like to start a shared snack roster here in KGL. This would mean that each parent would be responsible

for providing the snack for the class for the whole week. Snacks could include fruit, vegetables, dried fruit,

cheese and carbohydrates like bread, bread sticks, crackers etc…

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

If you would like to come and help in the class at any time, we always welcome parents willing to work with a small group of children. This can be a regular slot each week, or whenever you can make it.

ROOM PARENTSIf you would like to volunteer to help out with organising our class events and parent get-togethers, please let me know. We will need 2 room parents.
