On 28th November History will be taking A2 Historians to University College, London for a sixth-form Conference on Imperial Germany & the Rise of Hitler. Write up to follow after the conference.

Science homework news

New Style Science Homework years 7 and 8:

A new style of science homework has been introduced this week for pupils in years 7 and 8.  Pupils will be asked to complete a weekly science log of their lessons. The information they will be required to write about will include - the recall of keywords they have used in their lessons, outline new skills and knowledge they feel they have learnt and crucially allow the pupil to highlight areas of the lessons that they have not understood or have questions about.

If your son and daughter has concerns on how to complete the science homework please ask them to talk to their science teacher who will be happy to explain what the expectations are for the Science logbook.

about their possible options in our "subject market place" and suitability for courses. It is an exciting time and we are keen to help students to secure their future.

What programmes are available?

Turnford School offers a wide variety of Vocational and A Level subjects and our "motto" has always been to match intended destinations and aspirations to A Level choices as well as matching "horses for courses", which you will hear more about on our options evening. We aim to stretch, challenge and raise students’ aspirations during their time with us. Our range of vocational offers includes the excellent Tottenham Hotspur FC development programme as well as the Colin’s Performing Arts Academy programme. We offer Level 2 provision including a GCSE resit opportunity in English and Maths with expert tuition provided to reach that magic C grade if you do not do so this year. Our A levels are comprehensive and we offer a full range appropriate to students’ starting points.

Will I get into Turnford 6th Form?

Mr Walsh has promised that he will support students to appropriate destinations and has been speaking regularly at year 11 Assemblies in regards to the support and information. We have a significant number of students come to us from all areas from North London to Harlow and we know we can find the right option for you. If you want to come to our OFSTED rated "Good" 6th Form then now is the time to work hard and make the most of all of your GCSE results.

How can I ask any questions in the interim?

Please email [email protected] or call our 6th Form office on 0199230833 to find out more about the exciting range of opportunites that our excellent 6th Form has to offer for your future.

Good luck with exploring your options this year

Cycling workshop

On Monday 20th October we had a chance to attend a Cycling workshop at the VeloPark located at the Queen Elizabeth Park, Stratford.  The day involved our 5 students experiencing the 4 different cycling disciplines available at the park.   They had the opportunity to experience road cycling on a newly built mile long course around the Olympic Park and perform track cycling inside the Velodrome on the track where former student Laura Trott won her two Olympic gold medals. They then returned outside to the newly designed 3 mile mountain bike course and finally attempted to master the technical difficulties of a BMX bike on the challenging Olympic BMX track.
