Running Start Academic Policy
• BC requires all students to achieve a 2.00 GPA (“C” average) or be placed on academic probation
• Approximately 8% of all Running Start students achieve below a 2.00 GPA in any given quarter
• If your GPA for one quarter is below a 2.00, you will be placed on academic probation.
• Running Start students who achieve below a 2.00 GPA for ANY TWO QUARTERS will become ineligible to participate in the program
• Low grades will permanently damage college and high school transcripts.
• Affect admissions to 4 year university or college.• Receiving financial aid or scholarships.
Processes for Probation Status Students
Inform Students & HS Counselor Regarding their Status
Mandatory RS Homeroom Online 7 Week Non-credit Class
Processes for Ineligible Status Students
Students can complete an appeal to be reinstated to the program (must have an extenuating circumstance)
Students that are approved for reinstatement to the program will be required to meet all the obligations for reinstatement
In order for a reinstatement appeal to be approved, the student must have attended and completed the 7 Week Running Start Homeroom
