Code of Behaviour when working with under age players
Let us ensure that everyone working on our behalf emphasises FAIR PLAY, RESPECT, EQUALITY,
SAFETY and NO DISCRIMINATION in all aspects of our work with children and young people.12
Parents/Guardians
Parents/Guardians have an inuential role to play in assisting and encouraging
their children to fully participate in Gaelic Games, whether by playing our games
or attending training or coaching sessions.
In common with coaches and club personnel the parents/guardians of under age
players should act as role models for their children as they participate in Gaelic
Games.
Parents/Guardians should encourage their child to:
Alwaysplaybytherules.
Improvetheirskillslevels.
Appreciateeverybodyontheirteam,regardlessofability.
Maintainabalancedandhealthylifestylewithregardtoexercise,food,restand
play.Advicemaybesoughtifnecessaryfromclubocialsonthisissue.

Respectocialsdecisionsandencouragechildrentodolikewise.
Donotexertunduepressureonyourchild.
Neveradmonishyourownchildoranyotherchildfortheirstandardofplay.
Berealisticintheirexpectations.
Showapprovalforeort,notjustresults.
Avoidaskingachildoryoungperson,Howmuchdidyouscoretodayorwhat
didyouwinbyorwhatdidyouloseby.Askthemdidtheyenjoythemselves.
Neverembarrassachildorusesarcasticremarkstowardsaplayer.
Applaudgoodplayfromallteams.
Donotcriticiseplayingperformances.Identifyhowimprovementsmaybe
made.
Donotseektounfairlyaectagameorplayer.
Donotentertheeldofplayunlessspecicallyinvitedtodosobyanocialin
charge.
Parents/Guardians should:
Completeandreturntheregistration/permissionandmedicalconsentforms
fortheirchildsparticipationintheclub.
Informthecoaches,andanyotherrelevantclubpersonnel,ofanychangesin
theirchildsmedicalordietaryrequirementspriortocoachingsessions,games
or other activities.
Ensurethattheirchildpunctuallyattendscoachingsessions/gamesorother
activites.
Providetheirchildwithadequateclothingandequipmentasmayberequired
fortheplayingofourgamesincludingforexamplehelmets,shinguards,gum
shields etc
Ensurethatthenutrition/hydrationandhygieneneedsoftheirchildaremet.

eachoneequallyregardlessofage,gender,ability,ethnicorigin,cultural
background or religion
Parents/Guardians have the right to:
Knowtheirchildissafeandtomakeacomplaintiftheybelievethattheirchilds
safety is in any way compromised.
Beinformedofproblems/concernsrelatingtotheirchild.
Beinformediftheirchildgetsinjured.
Complainiftheyhaveconcernsaboutthestandardofcoaching.
Haveasayinrelationtodecisionsbeingmadewithintheclub.
