begin their school year next week. —-oOo—-
CHILDREN, YOUR FUTURE CAN ONLY BEGIN TODAY, NOT TOMORROW.
THE HARDER YOU WORK, THE BRIGHTER YOUR FUTURE WILL BE. LET GOD BE THE FOUNDATION FOR YOUR EDUCATION.
——oOo—— We wholeheartedly thank the “Back to School” Organizing Team and vol-unteers, especially those who, out of love for children, have supported for school supplies. May God, who holds the whole world in His hands, bless
you, your children and family, and May God bless the United States of America!

WHO IS THE FAITHFUL AND PRUDENT STEWARD?
Gladiator is a well-known film from the year 2000. The story reflects the politics in the Roman Empire after the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, who knew who would be the faithful and prudent steward for the citizens of Rome. He chose General Maxi-mus Meridius to succeed him on the throne, instead of his own son Commodus, whom he considered to be weak, power-hungry and unfit to rule the empire. Out of bitter resentment, Commodus killed Marcus, his father, and ordered the execution of Maximus’ family. Maximus was forced to become a slave and a gladiator, who gained love and favor from the people of Rome through his fierce fights. He killed Emperor Commodus in a duel with him, but died after the vengeance. The story presented in the film may reflect the question Jesus asked in responding to Peter: “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward?” This question is asked of everyone who is invited to be part of the Kingdom of God. Power and position are given to those who are chosen for the sake of the Kingdom of God, which is the kingdom of life, in which the people in this world should enjoy peace and justice. God puts His trust in His stewards and expects them to do their jobs with faithfulness and obedience. God is not a micromanager. He en-trusts His Kingdom to you and me, and only comes back on the last day to find out what we have done with His household. If the business of our house (parish, city and nation) is not of the Kingdom of God, but just a secular business, then it is not in the hands of a faithful and prudent steward. A faithful and worthy steward always conducts his service in the name of God for the sake of His kingdom. Fr. Peter Truong
Following the footstep of St. Francis of Assisi, we worship God with acts of Charity, and we love our neighbors with faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.
