PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the parishioners of Holy Innocents Parish, rooted in and flowing from a deep love of God and neighbor, and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to live, proclaim, and give witness to the Gospel of Jesus. Holy Innocents Parish, a multi-cultural community of communities, through the richness of our faith and the diversity of our gifts, is committed to making Jesus’ vision, “that all may be one” a reality.

PARISH REGISTRATION We warmly welcome all who have recently moved into our parish neighborhood. We invite you to contact the parish in order to register and receive information about our Church. If you are not receiving mailings from the parish, you are probably not registered yet. Please notify the rectory if you changed your address, phone number, or if you are moving from the parish. Thank you.

BAPTISM The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.

MATRIMONY Couples planning to be married should contact one of the priests at their earliest convenience but no less than six months before the wedding.

CARE OF THE SICK Please notify the rectory when someone is seriously ill or in the hospital. We will put them on the prayer list. Arrangements can be made for visits and reception of the sacraments.

EL BAUTISMO El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el Padre Vicente.

MATRIMONIO Parejas planeando en casarse deben comunicarse con uno de los sacerdotes de la parroquia lo mas pronto possible, no menos de 6 meses antes de la boda.

CUIDADO A LOS ENFERMOS Por favor notifique a la rectoria cuando se encuentre alguien criticamente emfermo o en el hospital. Los pondremos en la lista de oracion en la misa. Se puede pedir visitas en la casa y hospital y tambien la recepcion de los dacramentos. Bố Mẹ và Cha Mẹ đỡ đầu của các Em phải đến văn phòng Nhà Xứ làm hẹn, điền đơn và ghi danh theo học lớp Giáo Lý. Tối Thứ Ba thuộc tuần thứ nhất trong tháng, lớp Giáo Lý dành cho người Tây Ban Nha. A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

“And Jesus replied: ‘What do you wish me to do for you?’”

Dear Friends,

I had the good pleasure of celebrating two anniversaries last weekend. Our very own, Sister Margaret Ann Quinn IHM, celebrated her 50th jubilee with family and friends last Saturday, while my priest friend, Father Pat Brady, celebrated his 25th jubilee on Sunday. Sister Margaret assists in our school office, while Fr. Brady teaches at our seminary. In reading our Scriptures for today it struck me that Sister Margaret and Fr. Brady are the antitheses to the two apostles in our Gospel today.

We hear James and John asking Jesus to place them on his right and left when he comes into his glory. And of course Jesus reminds them that they do not know what they are asking and then proceeds to tell them why. But the irony for me is that prior to the request of James and John, Jesus had told the disciples that he was going to have to suffer and die. Not once, but three times he told them of his fate. But they didn’t get it. Their friend and leader was going to be handed over to the Gentiles where he would be mocked, spit upon, flogged and finally killed, before rising from the dead. And all the two can think about is a place of honor when their time comes. You want to say to them, “Guys, what planet are you living on? How can you be so dense?” But Jesus simply reminds them: “Whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.”

Although two of Jesus’ closest friends did not get it, Sister Margaret and Father Brady do get it. For 50 years, for 25 years, these two friends of Jesus have lived their vocations faithfully. Commitment to religious life, to priesthood, to marriage is not the norm these days. In these vocations and even the workplace it seems that many try a particular way of life, but become bored or frustrated or disillusioned, and walk away from it. Persevering in one’s vocation or choice of work is becoming more and more rare. That is why it was great to see so many young people at the anniversaries last weekend. They witnessed first-hand the commitment of these two friends of Jesus. Maybe one or two them would even become a sister or priest, but more importantly they know that faithfulness to a vocation, to a way of life, is still a reality.

Once again, our Scriptures hold up a mirror for us. They challenge us to take a long, hard look at ourselves and ask ourselves the questions: “Why do I do what I do?” and “Am I faithful in doing it?” Am I the servant that Jesus calls me to be? Or do I do what I do for honor and recognition? Do I hang in there, through sickness and health, good times and bad? Or do I give up when life gets difficult? Maybe the best question to answer is this one: Who are you going to imitate: James and John? or Sister Margaret and Father Brady? Think about it, won't you.

Holy Innocents is hosting a youth retreat! If you are in High School, if you

love to be inspired by God’s word, challenged to think, meet new people

and hang out with good friends or just make new friends; if you enjoy being

in an open and welcoming community where you are free to be completely

yourself…. then this is an event for you! This retreat runs Saturday,

November 17, 2018 at Msgr. Martin J. Lynch Parish Hall. The theme

is: I who chose you…--John 15:16. This retreat starts at 9:30 AM and ends

with Mass at 4:30 PM. Registration is free.

High school students, come join our Holy Innocents Church Youth Group for a time of friendship, fun and faith. The group meets every TUESDAY FROM 6:30 – 8:15 PM at the Parish Hall (gym). We hope to see you there!

"Y Jesús respondió: '¿Qué es lo que desean?'"

Queridos amigos,

Tuve el placer de celebrar dos aniversarios el fin de semana pasado. Nuestra propia la Hermana, Margaret Ann Quinn IHM, celebró su 50 ° aniversario con familiares y amigos el sábado pasado, mientras que mi sacerdote, el padre Pat Brady, celebró su 25 ° aniversario el domingo. La hermana Margaret asiste en la oficina de nuestra escuela, mientras que el padre Brady enseña en nuestro seminario. Al leer nuestras Escrituras de hoy, me sorprendió que la hermana Margaret y el padre Brady son las antítesis de los dos apóstoles en nuestro Evangelio de hoy.

Escuchamos a Santiago y Juan pidiéndole a Jesús que los coloque a su derecha e izquierda cuando llegue a su gloria. Y, por supuesto, Jesús les recuerda que no saben lo que preguntan y luego les dice por qué. Pero la ironía para mí es que antes de la solicitud de Santiago y Juan, Jesús les había dicho a los discípulos que iba a tener que sufrir y morir. No una vez, sino tres veces les contó su suerte. Pero no lo entendieron. Su amigo y líder iba a ser entregado a los gentiles donde serían burlados, escupidos, azotados y finalmente asesinados, antes de levantarse de entre los muertos. Y todos los dos pueden pensar en un lugar de honor cuando llegue su momento. Quieres decirles: "Chicos, ¿en qué planeta viven? ¿Cómo puedes ser tan denso? "Pero Jesús simplemente les recuerda:" El que quiera ser grande entre ustedes, que sea su servidor, y el que quiera ser el primero, que sea el esclavo de todos.”

Aunque dos de los amigos más cercanos de Jesús no lo entendieron, la hermana Margaret y el padre Brady sí lo entienden. Durante 50 años, durante 25 años, estos dos amigos de Jesús han vivido fielmente sus vocaciones. El compromiso con la vida religiosa, el sacerdocio, el matrimonio no es la norma en estos días. En estas vocaciones e incluso en el lugar de trabajo, parece que muchos intentan una forma particular de vida, pero se aburren, se frustran o se desilusionan y se alejan de ella. Perseverar en la vocación o elección de trabajo es cada vez más raro. Es por eso que fue genial ver a tantos jóvenes en los aniversarios el fin de semana pasado. Fueron testigos de primera mano del compromiso de estos dos amigos de Jesús. Tal vez uno o dos se convertirían en una hermana o un sacerdote, pero lo más importante es que saben que la fidelidad a una vocación, a un modo de vida, sigue siendo una realidad.

Una vez más, nuestras Escrituras nos muestran un espejo. Nos desafían a que nos miremos a nosotros mismos detenidamente y nos hagamos preguntas: "¿Por qué hago lo que hago?" Y "¿Soy fiel en hacerlo?" ¿Soy el sirviente que Jesús me llama a ser? ¿O hago lo que hago por honor y reconocimiento? ¿Me quedo ahí, a través de la enfermedad y la salud, los buenos y los malos? ¿O me rindo cuando la vida se pone difícil? Quizás la mejor pregunta para responder es esta: ¿A quién vas a imitar: Santiago y Juan? o la hermana Margaret y el padre Brady? Piénsalo.

COLECCIÓN DE COMIDA es el tercer Domingo de mes. Estamos agradecidos por su generosidad n donar comida no perecedera.

Bautismo de los Niños Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay que llamar a la rectoría al 215-743-2600 para hacer una cita con un sacerdote para arreglar los detalles del bautismo. No se puede ir a la clase pre-bautismal sin haberse reunido con el sacerdote primero. También, para bautizar en los Santos Inocentes hay que estar registrado aquí. Se puede hacer una cita para registrarse, o se puede registrar cuando venga para hablar del bautismo. Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos, tenga en cuenta que la responsabilidad principal de un padrino es dar buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo que es vivir bien la fe católica. Por eso, para ser padrino, hay que haber recibido todos los sacramentos (bautismo, confirmación, comunión), estar registrado y participando en la iglesia (en esta parroquia u otra), y si es casado, ser casado por la Iglesia. Gracias por su atención en estos asuntos. Que Dios le brinde muchas bendiciones a su familia.

aprender inglés, el lunes, miércoles, jueves y viernes a las

11:30AM hasta el 1:00 del mediodía y el lunes y martes a

las 7PM hasta a las 8:30PM. El costo es $20.00 para el

no es cristiano— exigir respeto

para ejercer poder sobre los

demás. Jesús, el Mesías, es el siervo fiel que da su

vida por los demás para rescatarlos. Y así, Jesús

lavó los pies de sus discípulos. Jesús conoce y

siente nuestra debilidad por su propia experiencia.

De allí que podamos confiar en que nos dará la

ayuda que necesitamos.

BÀI ĐỌC I: Is 53, 10-11 "Nếu người hiến thân làm lễ vật đền tội, người sẽ thấy một dòng dõi trường tồn". Trích sách Tiên tri Isaia.

Chua đã muốn hành hạ người trong đau khổ. Nếu người hiến thân làm lễ vật đền tội, người sẽ thấy một dòng dõi trường tồn, và nhờ người, ý định của Chua sẽ thành tựu. Nhờ nỗi khổ tâm của người, người sẽ thấy và sẽ được thoả mãn. Nhờ sự thông biết, tôi tớ công chính của Ta sẽ công chính hoá nhiều người, sẽ gánh lấy những tội ác của họ. Đó là lời Chua.

ĐÁP CA: Tv 32, 4-5. 18-19. 20 và 22 Đáp: Lạy Chúa, xin đổ lòng từ bi xuống trên chúng con, theo như chúng con tin cậy ở nơi Ngài (c. 22).

Xướng: 1) Vì lời Chua là lời chân chính, bao việc Chua làm đều đáng cậy tin. Lạy Chua, xin đổ lòng từ bi xuống trên chung con, theo như chung con tin cậy ở nơi Ngài. - Đáp. BÀI ĐỌC II: Dt 4, 14-16 "Chúng ta hãy cậy trông vững vàng mà tiến đến trước toà ân sủng". Trích thư gửi tín hữu Do-thái. Anh em thân mến, chung ta có một Thượng tế cao cả đã đi qua các tầng trời, là Đức Giêsu, Con Thiên Chua, nên chung ta hãy giữ vững việc tuyên xưng đức tin của chung ta. Vì chưng, không phải chung ta có vị Thượng tế không thể cảm thông sự yếu đuối của chung ta, trái lại, Người đã từng chịu thử thách bằng mọi cách như chung ta, ngoại trừ tội lỗi. Vậy chung ta hãy cậy trông vững vàng mà tiến đến trước toà ân sủng, ngõ hầu lãnh nhận lòng từ bi và tìm kiếm ân sủng để gặp được ơn phù trợ kịp thời. Đó là lời Chua.
