GROWING IN GRACE “YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH” CRECIENDO EN LA GRACIA “AÑO DE SAN JOSE”

GROWING IN GRACE: Who Are You St. Joseph?. Welcome to the Year of St. Joseph! Pope Francis has declared the Year of St. Joseph from December 8, 2020, to December 8, 2021. St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of fathers, of crafters, of the dying, of immigrants, of workers, and many others. He is also known as the Protector of the Universal Church and the terror of demons! They flee when we invoke St. Joseph. Next to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph is the most powerful interces-sor we have in Heaven. If you are unfamiliar with St. Joseph, there are many books written about him and the Bible is a great place to begin learning about him. The Scriptures reveal certain things about St. Joseph. He belonged to the line of David. He was a just man who did as the angel commanded (Mathew 1-2). The Scriptures, however, don’t tell us how old he was, what he said or what he looked like. By reading Matthew and Luke’s Gospels we know this about St. Joseph: he loved God and he loved his family. St. Joseph presented the child Jesus in the temple and named Him as the angel in-structed: “you are to name him Jesus” (Matthew 1:21). Then later we read: “The angel of the Lord ap-peared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.’ Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt” (Matthew 2:13-14). St. Joseph’s devotion and obedi-ence to God is second only to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He listened to God and dedicated his life to loving and protecting Jesus and Mary without question or hesitation. St. Joseph was a good Jewish father who taught Jesus how to pray, how to work, and how to be a man. He had profound faith and trust in God, and every day he lived surrounded by Grace. Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D. writes in his book Divine Intimacy, “As soon as Jesus was born, He was placed in St. Joseph’s arms and entrusted to his care; later He would grow in his sight, be fed at his table and sleep under his roof.” What a glorious life this humble man of Nazareth must have lived! St. Joseph, pray for us!

Gabriel de Santa María Magdalena, O.C.D. escribe en su libro Intimidad Divina, "Como tan pronto como Jesús nació, fue puesto en los brazos de San José y confiado a su cuidado; más tarde el veria como crecia, como era alimentado en su mesa y dormir bajo su techo. ¡Qué vida tan gloriosa la de este humilde hombre de ¡Nazaret que debe haber vivido! ¡San José, ruega por nosotros!

The Holy Cross Food Pantry provided food for 18 families in February. The pantry is still very well stocked thanks to your generous donations, but we are in need of corn muffin mix and canned food. Jesus told us “whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.” Every day we are presented opportunities to help someone. Every day we have the opportunity to see the face of Jesus in others and be the face of Jesus to others. Every day we pass by someone in need. Pray for the strength and courage to be the answer to someone’s prayer.

Gabriel Project Report Dear Holy Cross Ladies: Do you hear St. Gabriel calling you to service? The Gabriel Project, needs Angels to help a mom through what can be very difficult time. But we also have a way for you to get involved in a way that requires almost no time and very little space. If you can store a small plastic bin filled with baby items, give me a call. I will stock the bin with items and bring it to your home with an inventory sheet. When one of our moms needs something, I will call you and pick it up. It may seem like a small thing, but believe me, it would be a big help. Think about it. Pray about it. Then give me a call at 469-971-4490. I look forward to hearing from you. Knights of Columbus Golf League. Will begin on April 6, 2021 at 5:00 at Stewarts Peninsula Golf Course, at 100 Cotton Springs, in The Colony, Texas, and will continue every Tuesday at 5:00 pm for 14 weeks. Proceeds from the league will support our Scholarship Program for High School Students. The fee will be $24.00 which includes a $5.00 fee going to the scho-larship fund.
