“Devote time each day to prayer”
St. Charles Borromeo Church June 10, 2018
It hardly seems possible that four years have passed
since the newly-ordained Father Ryan Mann reported to
St. Charles. From the beginning, it was clear that Father
Ryan was a “force of nature.” With an ever-present
smile, a smart remark, and a love for priestly work, Father made
lots of inroads and lots of friends. An accomplished speaker,
Father Ryan will be especially remembered for his fine homilies.
His fame spread quickly and Father Ryan is much in demand—
throughout the Diocese—to give various presentations. While
I gratefully acknowledge his many accomplishments, I commend
Father Ryan particularly for his dedicated work with the Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). He is very gifted at introduc-
ing interested individuals to our Catholic Faith.
The will be a Farewell Mass at 12:00Noon this Sunday with a
Reception following in the Corrigan Gym. The actual effective
date of transfer is Tuesday, June 12. On that day, as Father Ryan
departs, Father Christopher Cox will report for duty at St Charles.
For those who might want to keep in touch with Father Ryan in
future days, here’s his new address:

On each Sunday evening until Carnival Weekend 2018,
we sponsor a $500 Seller’s Appreciation Raffle. Each time you sell
a sheet of white or blue tickets, fill out the attached Seller’s Appre-
ciation Raffle Ticket. Additional sheets of Grand Raffle white and
blue tickets--as well as Seller’s Appreciation tickets--are available
from the Parish Office.
This year’s Carnival will give us an all-concrete Charles
Avenue playground/ parking lot (coupled with a grant we have
received for this project.) We will also replace our ten-year old van
and complete the church servers’ sacristy renovation and
improvements.
Every year we “expand” the Carnival a bit with extra booths
and attractions. That means we could use some extra helping
hands. Please check the article in this bulletin about Carnival
Volunteers. Your help is needed and will be appreciated.
2018 Carnival dates are Wednesday to Sunday, July 11, 12, 13,
14, 15.
Parish Council members are reminded of this month’s meeting
scheduled for Thursday, June 14. As agreed, check your messages
for details about the special time and place.
St Charles parishioners: Although it is still four months away,
the weeks will pass quickly. Please mark your calendars now for
our one-day Joyfully Gifted Retreat planned for Saturday,
October 20, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, in the Lower Parish Hall.
This event promises to be a blessing for our parish and I would like
to see a great turnout, so mark those calendars now!
FOR DAD ON FATHER’S DAY Looking for the perfect way to remember
Dad on Father's Day? Enroll your Father,
living or deceased, in St Charles Fathers'
Memorial Confraternity. All Dads will be
remembered at the 10:00am Mass on
Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17th. Dads
will also be remembered at a Fathers' Memorial Confra-
ternity Mass to be offered once-per-month July 2018 to
May 2019. Pick up a Confraternity card from the Parish
Office. Your free-will offering will be gratefully accepted.
