Mass Intentions

Tuesday Rosary Please join us this Tuesday evening in

church at 6:30pm to pray the Rosary before

the Blessed Sacrament. Our parish Respect

Life Group will be leading us in praying for

building a culture which grows in the

respect and care of human life from its first beginning at

conception until the moment the Lord calls us in death.

Come to place your personal needs and those of our

community and Church before the Lord, through the

intercession of the Blessed Mother.

Thanks to all who have helped to prepare for and

celebrate First Holy Communion for the children of our

parish over the last two weeks: to our parish director of

religious education, Lorie Uhlmann, the religious

education office staff, and our catechists, to Mr. Ken

Klase, our school principal, our school teachers, and to

Mr. Greg Fincham, our parish music director, and to all

others who worked so hard to bring our children to share

in the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the very first time.

Thanks also to our Parish Respect Life Committee for

their assistance in honoring our parish mothers on

Mothers Day and in asking for support on behalf of

Genesis of Pittsburgh at Masses last weekend. Your

donations of $2,815.00 will help Genesis to continue

helping expectant mothers who are in difficulty or crisis.

Please check out the good work Genesis does in our

region at their website: genesispgh.org.

I ask you to join me in welcoming seminarian, Aaron

Ledgerwood to our parish. Aaron just completed his first

year of formation at Saint Paul Seminary, and will be

spending the next two months at Saint Louise before he

returns for his second year at Saint Paul’s. He grew up in

Beaver County and is a member of Saint Regis Parish in

Oakland. I know that you will enjoy getting to know

Aaron throughout his time with us this spring and

summer.

Celebrating Pentecost this Sunday we remind ourselves

of the surprising effects of the Holy Spirit’s gifts. The

sending of the Promise of the Father, as Jesus called the

Spirit, compelled the fishermen of Galilee to begin their

work as Apostles of the Lord. They went out from the

Upper Room of Jerusalem into the city and the world

carrying the Gospel of Jesus’ reconciling Passion, Death

and Resurrection. I do believe that the same Spirit

remains present to the Church in all of her many

members, and certainly in our parish. The items which I

brought to your attention above: the celebration of the

Sacraments, the charity and joining in ministry to those

in need, the fostering of priestly vocations; these are all

signs of the Spirit working in our parish, and through us,

for many others. Taking leave of our gathering in the

‘Upper Room,’ at Mass this Sunday, let’s remind

ourselves to remain open to the work and presence of the

Holy Spirit, and to be joyfully surprised by His life

giving gifts.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Joe

Ministry of Prayer

The Month of Our Lady Join us this Tuesday at 7:30PM for May Devotions in Honor

of Our Blessed Mother. This week we will honor Our

Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady, Undoer of

Knots. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux once said that " God wills

that all His gifts should come to us through Mary". Come

and honor her and receive the gifts that Jesus desires to

bestow on you!

The Saint Louise Athletic Board has an opening for

the Saint Louise School Girls’ JV Head Basketball

Coach. Interested candidates should submit a resume or

letter of interest to Athletic Director, Joe Luvara at

[email protected] or place it in the Athletic mailbox in

the office in the LeGras Parish Center.

The two “hinge” hours in Liturgy of the Hours are Morning

and Evening Prayer which integrate the Word of God and

the prayer of the psalms into the age of the Church.

Liturgy of the Hours expresses the liturgical season, or

feast, and prepares for and flows from the daily sacrifice of

the Eucharist.

As did the apostles after Christ’s Resurrection, please join

our community in the Church’s public and common

Morning Prayer by the people of God to sanctify the day in

Christ on Tuesdays at 8:30am before the 9:00am Mass.

Easy to follow booklets are provided.

We have a very long list of technology needs and we want

to do as much of it as possible this summer. Thank you to

the two families who stepped forward last week to sponsor

the iPads ($12,000) and the Kindles ($2,000)! As

technology continues to be integrated into all aspects of the

curriculum, we are working very hard to ensure our

students have access to all of the tools to prepare them for

high school and beyond. Our wish list for this summer

includes: a one-to-one Chromebook initiative for 8th grade

($20,000, and the current Chromebooks will be retasked to

5th and 6th grade), 3 LED boards to replace end of life

SMARTboards in three classrooms ($7,000 each), teacher

laptop replacements for those that are at the end of life

($10,000), STREAM initiative equipment ($5,000) online

learning subscriptions ($4,000) and much more. We also

have a long list of other summer projects including front

and side door replacements for better security, telephones

in every classroom for added security, and two outdoor

classroom areas. Can you help? No donation is too large

or too small. For more information, please contact Lisa

Osterhaus at [email protected] or at

412.833.1010. Thank you!

Sharing the GOOD NEWS: Today, this Feast of Pentecost, Jesus tells us in the Gospel of John, " The Advocate,

The Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told

you." John 14: 26. Not only does Jesus give us the gift of Himself through His life, death, and resurrection; but He also

gives the gift of the Holy Spirit in peace and forgiveness. What a great day to celebrate the wonder of our God! The Church

was born at Pentecost, and as that living Church today, we are called to forever proclaim to everyone that Jesus Christ

conquered death; that God's arms are always open to us; that God's patience and compassion are always there as He waits to

heal, and forgive us. Now, like the disciples, we are commissioned by Christ to go forth and share the Good News,

continuing His holy work of building The Kingdom! Are you ready??? Let's go!

Congratulations and God's choicest blessings upon the First Communicants and families of Saint Louise Parish! To

all those who received the Lord for the first time this weekend, know that our prayers continue for you and your

intentions. As a Parish Community we celebrate you as members of the Body of Christ and rejoice together with you as you

receive Jesus today and for 1000's more times to come! "This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad!"

Registration for the 2016-17 Catechetical Year: All families should have received the registration packets of Religious

Education options for our next catechetical year. It is important to send all forms to the Religious Center as early as possible

in order to get your family's first choice for formation. Information is available at the LeGras Parish Center, online at our

parish website: stlouisedemarillac.org/Education/Religious-Education or through the Religious Education Center, Monday

through Thursday from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Questions may be directed to the RE Center at 412-835-1155. Thanks for your

dedication to the Faith Formation of your children!

Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body of Christ, will be observed by our parish community on Sunday, May 29, at

4:30p.m. ALL PARISH FIRST COMMUNICANTS are invited to be part of the Solemn Procession with the Most Blessed

Sacrament after the Mass, and will conclude with Eucharistic Benediction. A cookout will be held on the parish grounds

following the Mass and Procession. Please e-mail [email protected] or call 412-835-1155 to respond if your

child(ren) will be participating. "We are One Body, One Body in Christ!"

Become a Disciple-Maker: "As the Father has sent Me, so I send you." Jesus invites us all to continue His holy work. Why

not become a Faith Witness for Christ by serving as a catechetical team member in our Religious Education

Programs? Many caring dedicated people are needed to share their love of the Lord in special service to the children of our

Parish Community. To explore this ministry further, please do not hesitate to call 412-835-1155 or e-mail

[email protected] God is calling YOU!

Prayer to the Holy Spirit: "Come Holy Spirit, Fill the hearts of Your faithful, and enkindle in them the fire of Your

love. Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. Let Us Pray: O God, Who

by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of Your faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly

wise and ever rejoice in His consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Please pray for these children, their parents

and godparents.

Baptismal Preparation Parents wishing to have their child baptized who have

never taken the Baptism Preparation Class should do so.

Classes are free of charge. The next class is Sunday, June 5

at 6:00pm in the LeGras Conference Room. Please

register by calling 412-833-1010.

Don’t let your child become a statistic! -- 80% of kids

stop practicing the faith at some point during college. There

is a way to keep our kids (grandkids) connected to the faith.

Go to www.diopitt.org/newmanconnection and fill out the

quick online form. We only need their first and last name

and the school they will be attending. A Catholic campus

minister at their college will be able to reach out to them

and invite them to participate in campus ministry.

It takes less than 2 minutes to do and it might be the most

important thing you do for your loved one as they graduate

high school!

THE FEAST OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF

CHRIST is more commonly known as the Feast of

Corpus Christi or Corpus Domini. Having joyfully

celebrated for fifty days the Resurrection of the Lord, and

before re-entering into Ordinary Time, we pause to

contemplate the awesome mystery of the Blessed Eucharist.

The Feast of Corpus Christi is the Feast of Holy Thursday

celebrated with great joy and solemnity outside of the

Lenten period. Our Christian life lacks its proper vigor

unless devotion to the Eucharist forms the center of its

development. The Feast of Corpus Christi provides us with

the opportunity to examine our consciences in regard to the

Eucharist: Do I seek to participate fully in each celebration

of Mass? Do I prepare myself spiritually by recollecting

myself before Mass? Do I realize the great gift of the Body

and Blood of Christ that I receive?

We encourage you to join us on the Feast of Corpus Christi,

Sunday, May 29, at the 4:30pm Mass. Following the

Mass there will be a Solemn Procession of the Blessed

Sacrament on the parish grounds ending with Solemn

Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It is an ideal way—

especially for families—to render thanks to Almighty God

for the gift of the Eucharist and the many gifts that He has

bestowed on us. At the conclusion of the ceremonies there

will be a parish family barbecue so that we can continue

our evening of communion and fellowship. Please consider

joining us!

May the Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be

praised, adored and loved, with grateful affection,

at every moment in all the Tabernacles of the world

even until the end of time.

Amen

and the trees start to bloom? Millions of people suffer from

seasonal allergies.

Here are some tips to help ease your symptoms:

Delegate lawn mowing and gardening to others

Remove clothes you have worn outside and shower to

remove pollen from your skin and hair

Close doors and windows at night or when pollen

counts are high

Avoid outdoor activity in the early morning when

pollen counts are highest

Use air conditioning in your house and car

Clean floors often with a vacuum cleaner that has a

HEPA filter

Nonprescription medications can also help to ease your

allergy symptoms. These include antihistamines to help

relieve runny nose, itching, sneezing, and decongestants to

relieve nasal stuffiness. If these simple strategies aren’t

effective, be sure to see your doctor who can recommend

other options such as prescription medications, skin testing,

blood tests, and allergy shots.

Mandated Reporter Training

Remember the rollicking Beatles’ song, “All Together

Now”? While the light-hearted chorus was meant to be an

invitation to sing along, Paul McCartney said it also had an

undercurrent of “we are all together now.” That is where

we are moving to in our diocesan-wide program, “On

Mission for The Church Alive!” We are all in, ready to

move together as the Church Evangelizing! Read, hear and

proclaim this weekend’s Good News. This is what we need

to celebrate – all together now – on this Pentecost Sunday.
