If dissolved oxygen levels in water drop below 5.0 mg/L, it can cause the bass to be very stressed, causing them not to eat as aggressively as if levels exceeded 6.0 mg/L.

In the summer most oxygen is located near the bottom of the lake. So my summer fishing is different from winter fishing for bass.

How does dissolved oxygen affect bass habits

In the winter most oxygen is located near the surface of the water (just under the ice) due to temperature and ice, which is why I found majority of the fish caught were no more than 5 feet under the surface of the water.

How GPS works

• GPS is simply satellites and your distance from there scanning range.

• GPS makes fishing areas I have never been 100 times easier. With my GPS I can tell where I am and where I am going on any lake in the world.

Where all signals overlap is where the boat is located

If the timing on the satellites is off, the overlap is off

The US military is in charge of the satellite timing and it keeps improving every year… AND

We can also buy better GPS unit to interpret the signal better to locate things to 12 to 36 inches

Accuracy with GPS also makes it safer for fishermen that go out on the Great Lakes and Oceans in case they get lost.

Spring Time Bass Patterns• Fishing in the spring has always been a struggle with big bass.

With this project I was able to figure out where to look and what to use.

• The main thing I learned was to use a bait that was remotely similar to what the bass are eating. And target the bass that are in the 1-5ft range in the water due to the higher oxygen levels. This way the fish were more relaxed and wouldn’t be as stubborn when it comes to eating
