INTERMITTENT PARKINGENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
Two Part-time Vacancies – Up to 19 Hrs./WeekGrade 5; Starting Hourly Wage: $14.22
____________________________________________________________________________________________DEFINITION:Routine work related to the enforcement of parking regulations; all other related work as required. Works up to 19 Hours per week supporting parking enforcement activities. Will occasionally cover additional time due to vacations/leaves of regular PEO employees.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Operates a handheld computer ticket writer machine and receives special orders or instructions upon reporting for duty.Monitors streets and parking lots; issues parking violations to illegally parked vehicles; applies automobile immobilization devices to vehicles on the immobilization list; arranges for the towing of vehicles.Checks parking meters and parking computers to ensure that they are in proper working order; notes and reports defective or broken meters to maintenance personnel.Attends hearings as the City’s representative when violator disputes ticketing.Provides summary report of activities at completion of tour of duty.Performs similar or related work, both in the Parking office and outdoors, as required or as the situation dictates.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education and Experience:High school graduation or equivalent; one year of experience in dealing with the general public; or any equivalentcombination of education and experience.Knowledge, Ability and Skill : Familiarity with the general rules and regulations and city ordinances governing parking. Knowledge of the Mass. General Laws and City Ordinances pertaining to parking is desirable. Ability to deal effectively with the general public.A Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator’s license is required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Moderate to strenuous physical effort is required when performing work. Ability to stand and walk for long periods
of time and in various weather conditions when issuing tickets. May be required to lift up to 60 pounds when utilizing immobilization equipment such as the Denver boot. Good close, distant, and peripheral vision is required fordetecting violations, and issuing tickets. Ability to identify and distinguish colors in order to identify vehicles and work safely in traffic. BENEFITS:
