You cannot stop or park on a bicycle path, footpath or pave-
ment. The same applies to median strips, traffic islands and
the like.
A vehicle can stop or park with part of the vehicle on the
pavement if outside densely built areas. However, only if
the maximum permissible laden weight does not exceed
3.500 kg.
Pavement
According to the Road Traffic Act it is not permitted to stop
or park in a junction within 10 metres from the closest cor-
ner of the crosscutting lane or bicycle path. The 10-metre-
rule applies to all junctions.
The purpose of the 10-metre-rule is to improve the view for
road users, so that drivers can see pedestrians, bicycles
and mopeds better.
If the corner is rounded, the closest corner will be the place
where the roads meet in a sharp angle. As a general rule,
you can calculate the distance by counting tiles. The tiles
are 80 centimetres long and there should therefore be 12,5
tiles between your car and the junction.
