Funeral Administrator & Arranger

&

Funeral Service Operative

(Casual hours) JOB PURPOSE

Funeral Arranger As a funeral arranger, you will be at the absolute ‘front line’ of the branch-based funeral work. Families who come into the funeral branch will be greeted by you, so it is important that you are professional and well-informed, whilst also being personable and friendly. You must also be able to answer the clients’ questions quickly and reliably. Our mission as a company is to make the clients feel relaxed, at ease, and to know that they can trust us to care for their loved one at this very difficult time. Unlike our competitors, we encourage our clients to ‘shop around’ so that if they choose us, they are doing so because we are the preferred choice, not simply the first person they saw.

As a casual Funeral Arranger, you will be asked to come into the office to cover the branch as and when cover is required. You will be a key member of the team and have complete responsibility for any ongoing arrangements whenever you are in the branch.

Funeral Operative As a funeral operative, you will be a professional and visual ambassador for the company on our ceremonial duties on funerals. This work will be as a driver of our ceremonial funeral vehicles and a pallbearer for the funerals wherever families do not want to do this themselves. A professional and dignified demeaner together with an ability to react to dynamic circumstances are therefore essential. Operatives are also responsible for assisting in the care of the deceased prior to the funeral, most especially in the initial act of bringing deceased people from their place of death into our care in our Beckenham mortuary. As well as being ‘on show’ to the public, funeral operatives are also in very close contact with our bereaved families, including driving them in our vehicles on the day of the funeral. Being professional and presentable at all times is therefore essential. Much of the work of the funeral operative takes place in difficult and unusual circumstances. Funerals are not always easy places at which to be present or to work; an ability to cope with the emotional stresses of such work will therefore also be essential.
