At Reboot Kolkata we want to do exactly this by giving all of you

budding changemakers a platform to come up with innovative

solutions and ideas to tackle the 8 pressing civic issues our beloved

Kolkata city is marred with.

The participating team can explore solutions within any one of these

issues. There are certain specific themes mentioned under each issue

which are to act as guidelines. Teams may submit solutions outside of

these as well. The 8 issues and themes are listed in the following

REBOOTSAFETY

With crimes against women on the rise and Kolkata like the rest

of the nation being gripped by fear, it's time to collectively rise up

against this demon and make Kolkata safe for women. To this end,

you are invited to send innovative solutions related (but not

limited) to any of the following topics: Innovative solutions for women to connect with police on a

real time basis Initiatives governance measures to tackle this problem

REBOOT ELECTRICITY

West Bengal has a high power tariff while private players in

Kolkata continue to bleed pockets of the common man. Let us

demand reduction in power tariff and floating of global tender to

bring competition in the market. To this end, you are invited to

send innovative solutions related (but not limited) to any of the

following topics:

REBOOTCULTURE

The steady decline in the collective celebration of Bengali

literature and arts has cast a grim shadow on the vibrant culture

of the city. One of the major reasons for this has been a lack of

initiative to ensure steady income for the artists and artisans of

Kolkata. There is an urgent need to revive our ‘Bengali pride’

which is the true and soulful embodiment of the city’s culture and

its glorious past. To this end, you are invited to send innovative

It was once said that what Bengal thinks today, India thinks

tomorrow. Nowadays, however, employment based migration is

educated and skilled workforce of Kolkata. To this end, you are

Corruption and bribes are a regular affair in Kolkata. The people

need to put an end to these practices and expose the ones behind

reduce power in the hands of traffic police.

REBOOT INFRASTRUCTURE

Wretched roads lead to unmanageable traffic; filthy water leads

to numerous diseases; Kolkatans are dying due to crumbling

infrastructure. The root cause of these apparent issues can be

found in the dismal state of the infrastructure of the city. To this

REBOOTWATER

The city is reeling under a water crisis because of excessive

dependence on groundwater and inadequate supply of drinking

water. Let us innovate to fight this crisis.To this end, you are

invited to send innovative solutions related (but not limited) to

any of the following topics:

Technology to reduce Arsenic Content from Groundwater

Sustainable solutions to harvest rainwater

REBOOT CLEANLINESS

Sanitation and hygiene could prevent a vicious cycle of disease

and deaths in Kolkata. Let us bring urban sanitation at the fore of

city development and slum rehabilitation. Kolkata had ranked

25th in the cleanest city census in 2010. For the last 5 years,

West Bengal has opted out of the Swachh Survekshan Survey

which is conducted across the country. On close monitoring of

data, we can understand that waste generation is not a problem.

The real problem lies in processing the waste that is generated. To

this end, you are invited to send innovative solutions related (but

not limited) to any of the following topics:

Develop Efficient Waste Management

Accountability of local authorities for cleanliness in their area

A concise description of the issue to be

addressed identifying the gap between

the current (problem) state and desired

(goal) state.
