Energetic Materials –Particles, Processing, Applications
For almost all formulations and products containing energetic materials, successful application depends on both the particles (explosives, oxidizers, fuels and additives) and the processing methods used.
The production chain of energetic materials includes the synthesis of new energetic components, particle generation technologies, the formulation and processing of propellants, gas generators, high explosives and pyrotechnic components and the further development of application systems.
The quality and performance of these energetic systems depends in part on the properties of the particles used. While the particle size is the most important characteristic, morphology and size distribution modes also play a significant role. In addition, specialized particles like nanoparticles, composite particles, microcapsules and coated particles are attracting increasing interest. An important aspect of the research work in this field is the reliable characterization of raw materials and products.
The 45th International Annual Conference of the Fraunhofer ICT will welcome contributions relating to the synthesis of new energetic components, particle technology, binders, curing agents, formulation and processing techniques. In addition the associated applications in rocket and gun propellants, high explosives and pyrotechnics will be highlighted.
Through participation in the 45th International Annual Conference of the ICT, scientists from all over the world will have the opportunity to present, discuss and stay informed about the latest developments, and generate some trend-setting ideas for the future of the energetic materials community.
