Adaptations to the Original Best Practices

2121

Adaptations to the Original Best Practices

In all the Pilot Cities, the project has been implemented in different school levels (elementary, secondary, junior high school and high school) instead of only in elementary schools as it is in Marikina.

Tree-planting during environmental day and wedding ceremony are Kampot‟s own initiatives (not from Marikina).

Furthermore, the public event “I Love Kampot Stream” is also an own initiative.

While in Marikina, pupils collect 19 types of recyclable materials, pupils in the replicating cities only collect plastic, paper/carton, aluminum boxes and glass.

Page 22: Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in South-East ... · 1111 Kupang Green and Clean in Kupang, Indonesia Aims and Results: The overall objective of the Eco-Savers project

2222

While in Marikina there is a passbook for each pupil, the replicating cities have also passbooks for the classes themselves.

While money is kept by the banks in Marikina, the replicating cities have it collected and kept by head teachers, assigned groups or associations.

The money in Vinh City is used for education supplies (as in Marikina) but also for study trips in the framework of environmental issues.

While Marikina does one Eco-Day per week, Vinh City only does one Eco-Day per month.

Adaptations to the Original Best Practices

2323

The replication of Marikina„s best practice has led to cleaner environments in

Southeast Asian cities and an increased environmental awareness of the current and coming generations of the people

living in Vinh city, Kupang, Tarakan and Kampot!
