• (2) the “silo-challenge” and

• (3) the transformation challenge

Action of implementing the concept of “University Social Responsibility”:

• drive and support political and societal transformation

• realise their mission through education

• support the implementation and promote SDGs through research

• transform their own institutions in order to comply with SDGs


• Trans- and interdisciplinary research unit for efficient and

comprehensive scientific collaboration in Natural and social science

• is a cross-cutting unit within BOKU Vienna

• has a core team and more than 30 partner scientists throughout BOKU,

as well as international collaborators

• specializes in development research and higher education

• works at the interface with development cooperation to strengthen

knowledge transfer and facilitate mutual, evidence-based learning

between experts in science and practice

# Applied Limnology# International Joint Master's Programme in Limnology & Wetland Management

LWM is a well established international joint degree programme, fully accredited in

Kenya, Netherlands and Austria.

LWM students enjoy the complementing expertise of three renowned universities and

excellent networking perspectives at global level.

The M.Sc. programme structure/curriculum consists of 3 semesters of 4-months

each, which are held in:

- Austria at BOKU (Oct - Jan)

- Kenya at Egerton Univ. (Feb – May)

- The Netherlands at UNESCO-IHE Delft (May – Sept)

- Master research period & thesis semester (6 Month, Oct – April)
