Representatives include: • Carlene Farms • Indian Valley High School • Clearview Golf Club • Certified Angus Beef • Wayne Homes • Willoway Nurseries • J. M. Smucker Co. • Wil Research • Program Advisory Committees - Each academic program has its own advisory committee of industry representatives (often including alumni) to provide guidance regarding pro- gram curriculum, industry best practices, and employee ex- pectations. • Career Fairs Ohio State ATI collaborated with the career planning of- fice of CFAES to present a career fair featuring more than 18 companies offering full-time employment and in- ternships. Engineering Technologies and Landscape Horticulture each present annual career fairs, with many of the par- ticipating companies represented by ATI graduates. • Workshops and Conferences ATI has presented five free bioenergy workshops for 121 high school STEM teachers, providing laboratory activi- ties and lesson plans that can be used in high school classrooms. ATI hosted the 2013 and 2014 Ohio Agricultural Educa- tion Summer Conference for high school agriculture teachers, with more than 100 teachers in attendance each year. ATI hosts a federally-funded Upward Bound program to assist disadvantaged students in Stark and Wayne Counties with college preparation. Business Training & Educational Services - Provides customized workforce training for business and indus- try. In 2013, BTES worked with: 147 businesses (30% increase over 2012) 716 individuals (22% increase over 2012) Primary Industries Served: • Food Processing • Manufacturing • Higher Education • Landscape Training Topics in Greatest Demand: • Industrial/technical & apprenticeship training • Leadership development Ohio State ATI, in partnership with the Ohio Landscape Association, the Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association and the Professional Landcare Network, serves as Ohio’s test site and administrator for the national Landscape Industry Certified Technician test. In 2013, 74 candidates pursued certification by taking the test, which in turn required 78 landscape industry representatives across the state as volunteers in judging and administering the national certification test on the Wooster campus. • Outreach to Educators - ATI hosts contests and career development events (CDE) each year for FFA and 4-H. These include: • FFA Floriculture CDE • FFA Small Engines CDE • FFA Power & Equipment CDE • 4-H/FFA Dairy Cattle Judging Contest • 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest Ohio State ATI’s new beef cattle handling facility at the Grace Drake Learning Laboratory was dedicated in 2012. It was designed by renowned animal behaviorist Temple Grandin and is the only facility of its kind in Ohio.
