PASADENA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Fine Arts Teaching Strategies Intermediate School Choir- Grade Six Throughout the year students will master certain skills that are important to a student's understanding of Fine Arts concepts and demonstrated throughout all performance objectives. TEKS TAKS Objective Strand/Theme Strategy 6.1 THE STUDENT DESCRIBES & ANALYZES MUSICAL SOUND & DEMONSTRATES MUSICAL ARTISTRY. (a) Individually demonstrate characteristic vocal or instrumental timbre; Reading Objective 4 Perception Students will differentiate between tall, open vowels, and those that are nasal or altered by singing too loudly or too softly or lacking air- support. Students will identify what physical problems cause incorrect sounds and what steps to take to correct those problems. 6.1 THE STUDENT DESCRIBES & ANALYZES MUSICAL SOUND & DEMONSTRATES MUSICAL ARTISTRY. (b) Use standard terminology in explaining intervals, music notation, musical instruments or voices and musical performance; and Mathematics Objective 1 Perception The student is expected to identify: whole-notes, half- notes, quarter-notes, eighth- notes and their relationship to fractions. In addition, Students will identify: bar- lines, treble and bass clefs with corresponding notes, flats and sharps as well as other musical terms regarding tempo and dynamics. The student will be able to utilize the terms through written and aural identification. The student will visually and aurally identify intervals of up to one octave and demonstrate through singing and taking simple dictation using solfege syllables those intervals. 6.1 THE STUDENT DESCRIBES AND ANALYZES MUSICAL SOUND AND DEMONSTRATES MUSICAL ARTISTRY. (c) Identify music forms presented aurally and through music notation. Perception Students will identify simple forms (AB, ABA, Theme and Variation) on unison-line tunes and simple solos.
