Editors’ Message Dear all,

Welcome to our 2nd Issue of the PASCAL Herald. We are well into the second half of our school year and it is time to reflect on the work that our pupils and teachers have done.

In this issue’s pages you will see a lot of hard working young people, admira-ble academic achievements, participation in competitions, sports, as well as many events and activities. Our pupils continue to excel not only in academ-ics but also in extracurricular activities, such as the school’s Talent Show, the Junior Achievement Award, and in National events such as MEDI. M.U.N and EYP in which they have surpassed our expectations. Many congratulations and a big Thank You also goes to our staff who work above and beyond school hours and their academic role in order to provide the best possible outcomes.

Our school handed over children's Christmas gifts and €300 in su-permarket vouchers to the Cyprus Volunteerism Coordinative Coun-cil to be used in their 'Adopt a Family' scheme. Many thanks to all the staff, students and parents who donated and helped in our efforts to spread some Christmas cheer to those in need!

Proud of our Year 4 pupil Nikolais Malouppa on her yet another nota-ble equestrian achievement!

We are most proud of our Mirona Mus 6IB pupil on her TOP IN CY-PRUS for Cambridge IGCSE as a Second Language (Count-in Speaking) Award! Congratulations to her teacher Ms. Marina Spy-rou!

We are very proud of our girls who attained 3rd place in the inter-school girls’ futsal tournament which took place on the 11th of December

Our president of the Central Pupil Council Sergios Kyriakides 6B proudly represented us at the “SMOKE-FREE SCHOOLS" conference, organised by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, The University of Cyprus and Eurolife, accompanied by our Careers Counsellor Ms Anna Sophocleous.

30th of November marked the end of our No-Shave November event and we proudly handed over the €410 raised to the Cyprus Anticancer Association! Many thanks to SIMOS Hair Studio for shaving our Year 6 boys who participated in the event! Many thanks also to Mr. Thomas Papathomas for the organisation! Well done to all of them!!

Congratulations to our pupil Jason Karapatis for attaining Merit in the Iacovos Patatsos Mathematics Regional Competition, which allows him to go on to the Pancyprian Competition! Well done also to his Maths teacher Ms. Andria Pagdati for all the support and preparation.

Many thanks to Ms. Yioula Demetriou of the Cyprus Diabetes Association for com-ing in to give a Life Workshop to our Year 3 pupils as part of our Year 3 Health Awareness Week.

Many thanks to Ms. Maria Georgiou, volunteer for the One Wish, One Wish Dream charity and mother of our Stephanos Panayides, for coming in to school as part of our Year 3 Health Awareness Week and helping us raise €170 as a donation to this worthy charity which aims to support children suffering from cancer!

A HUGE well done to our Year 1 pupils for their amaz-ing Pet Treats Sale through which they manage to raise €140 for the Lythrodontas Animal Rescue Center!

Our Year 3 Healthy Bake Sale, fundraising for the Cyprus Diabetes Association

Our literature students were lucky enough to participate in a special drama workshop on HAMLET given by director Mr. Paris Erotikritou who so kindly came in to do this for them!

UK universities fair!

King's College London visited our school and our students had a chance to speak with the repre-sentatives and get useful infor-mation about studying there.

Our student Ioanna Artemiou with her teacher Ms. Michaella Monoyiou represented Cyprus in a Safer Internet Conference in Prague, organised by the Czech Safer Internet Center with the support of Microsoft and Google. Many thanks to Cyberethics Cyprus for this amazing opportunity!

The students of the Biomedical Club spent the day at Are-teion hospital where they were given a guided tour by Ms. Iliana Antoniou and presentations on how a microbiology labs work, by Dr. Papadamou, the ICU and the Medical profession, general surgery and ORL by Dr. Paidonomou and Dr Kyriakidis. Many thanks for the amazing hospitality!

Well done to all the pupils of the Volunteerism Club who visited the Kokkinotrimithia local nursery where they not only made breakfast and lunch for the children but also spent time playing with them and helping them with their various activities!

The pupils of the Social Awareness Club visited the Makarios Childrens’ Hospital and gave Christmas gifts to the children there.

Some amazing work produced by the pupils of the PINTEREST Club using melted crayon art!

Spring rolls, asian noodles and a delicious nutella xmas tree on our Incr-EDIBLES menu for this Club’s session!

Self defense made easy with our instructor Mr. Michalis Charalambous in the Street Fighting Club. The lucky pupils

The inauguration of the new PASCAL English School Lefkosia boarding facility in Engomi, on Monday 11th of December 2017, was officiated by the Cyprus Minister of Education and Culture Professor Costas Kadis. PAS-CAL’s boarding facility “Clio House” is the only licensed boarding facility in Cyprus. Professor Kadis praised the school and its teachers along with the school management team for creating a truly international environment and in succeeding in making the overseas boarding pupils from France, Iran, China, Belgium, Ukraine and Russia feel welcome, happy and supported in their academic endeavours. In addition to the Minister’s speech, Mr. Pantelis Andreou the Executive Chairman of PASCAL Education and the Principal of the school Ms. Ariana Milutinovic addressed the congregation. The boarders welcomed the attending guests in English and in their native languages. The longest residing boarder Cristie Nasya Sanchez, a French and USA national spoke on behalf of all the boarders.

Some of our borders took part in the “Teach your Teacher” event, a very enjoyable night

as we watched teachers learning from their students.
