Fr. Keith’s KornerFr. Keith’s KornerFr. Keith’s KornerFr. Keith’s Korner Our African Faith Community approached me

some time ago with a request to help raise money for our new church building, and the result of that conversation is our upcoming “Taste of Africa” event on Sunday 4 November at 4:00 PM. Just as New England is very different from New Orleans in our own country, so each country in Africa has unique foods, music, dress and dance. We will get a “taste” of the culture of some of the main countries our own parishioners come from during this special evening. I hope you will support our African brothers and sisters as they raise funds for our new church building and share their culture with us. November holds a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones. Please use the form in the bulletin this weekend to submit the names of your deceased family members and friends who have died in the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance at all the Masses on the first weekend in November. Those who are longer deceased will be able to be listed in the Book of the Dead near the altar at that time, and the All Souls envelope intentions will be placed on the altar in the chapel. As he did two weeks ago concerning the Dream Act, Archbishop Lori has written a letter to all Catholics this week concerning Question #6 on the November ballot, the Civil Marriage Protection Act (which is included in this bulletin). He offers points of reflection for you to consider in forming your conscience before voting next month. I also draw your attention to our parish website (www.saintdrexel.org) on which we have posted a video message from Archbishop Lori about these ballot questions, as well as the results of a survey of congressional candidates conducted by the Maryland Catholic Conference. This information is offered as helpful information to guide your decisions when voting.

“Almost Christmas Pageant”: Back by popular demand! Calling all Angels – even those with crooked

halos! Before you start thinking about shepherds and Wise Men, think again. This story is one you’ve never heard before. We’re going to step back to the time before the Wise Men, before the manger, and before

Gabriel’s visit, to Mary! Back to when the angels found out about the birth of Jesus. We need angels, lots of angels, especially those who love to sing and adore baby Jesus. We could also use a few prophets (minor and major), Isaiah, and of course, Moses. Please sign up in the Gathering Space the weekend of 27/28 October or email Katie Tylka at [email protected]. Please note the first rehearsal will be held Sunday 4 November from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in the Music Room.
