BUT one group of about 14 -16 verbs uses the present tense of Etre instead.MOST verbs use part of Avoir to form the pass compos.Here is that list

When the pass compos is formed with Etre, the past participle behaves like an adjective. So, if you have a feminine subject (the doer of the verb), you must also have a feminine past participle.
