Los Alamos County offers an ice rink that’s both charming and challenging for skaters of all ages...at a great price!

Tucked against the canyon,with a backdrop of pine trees... Built in 1936, our Ice Rink is the only refrigerated, NHL reg-ulation, outdoor ice rink in New Mexico. The Ice Rink offers public skating, hockey, and skating lessons from November through February. Being an outdoor rink means adverse weather such as snow, sleet, rain, or warm weather, which may force the Rink to close with short notice. Dress warm, in layers, and call the Rink or check the website for ice condi-tions. Whether it is stunning winter skies dotted with fluffy white clouds, or night skies filled with twinkling stars, you and your family can enjoy...

Passes can be purchased online!Individual passes can be purchased on the County website via Webtrack at www.losalamosnm.us, and click on “Recreation.” Multiple Family Discount passes will need to be purchased in person at the Ice Rink or Aquatic Center.

Birthday PArties &Group Reservations at the RinkA discount is offered for groups over 10 people. The Rink allows one adult free admission per 10 participants. All groups must have adult chaperones to supervise groups on and off the ice. Reserva-tions must be made at least one week in advance.

Private Arena RentalGroups who are interested in renting the Ice Rink to host a large event can rent the entire rink facility. A minimum 2-hour rental re-quired, and prices vary based on time and day of week. Contact the Ice Rink Manager for availability. Renters must fill out the proper paperwork and provide a certificate of liability insurance for $1 mil-lion naming Los Alamos County as an additional insured.

Don’t Forget! Approximately every hour and a half the ice is cleaned for resurfac-ing and no one can remain in the hockey boxes. Times vary based on ice condi-tions and are subject to change based on different events. Patrons cannot access the ice until the ice resurfacer has exited and the gates are closed. We are an outdoor rink, so adverse weather may force the rink to close with short notice.

Skate SharpeningTrained and skilled staff members will sharpen figure and hockey skates seven days a week with a 24-hour turn around. Staff examines skates for defects and breakage and reserves the right to refuse service on dam-aged skates.
