The majority of our trips include a walking city tour for a time varying from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, it is advised to wear comfortable shoes. Please ask for details before booking the trip. Outdoor Recreation (ODR) provides many opportunities to you, your Family and friends to discover the wonders of living in Europe. As an ID card holder you can travel with us and invite guests as long as they are registered on the access roster of both Rose Barracks and Tower Barracks at least 72 hours prior to the trip. Please Note that trip assistants are required to ask for your passport before boarding the bus, as per European law in case of police check.

- Keep receipts of your purchases abroad for Customs officers checking.- Keep some cash with you at all times as ATM machines are not available everywhere. Refund Policy - Original receipt is REQUIRED when asking for refunds.- NO REFUND FOR NO SHOWS!

Day Trip Refund Policy - Cancellation up to three working days prior to trip: 100 % refund - Cancellation two working days prior to trip: 50 % refund - Cancellation one working day prior to, or day of trip: No refund

Overnight Refund Policy- A deposit of $100 per child and/or $150 per adult is required upon enrollment. - 30 days prior to the trip’s departure date: A minimum of 50% of the trip cost is required. At this time the deposit is not refundable due to our contractual obligations with the hotels and other agencies.- 14 days prior to the trip’s departure date: The remaining balance of the trip cost is required.- Cancellation up to 31 days prior to the trip’s departure date: A full refund will be received unless otherwise indicated.- Cancellation from 30 days to the trip’s departure date: The amount refunded depends on the specific hotel’s cancellation policy. The administration fee of $150 deposit per adult will not be refunded, unless the cancellation reason is supported by documentation that is signed by a commanding officer or physician. Customers will only receive refunds if their balance paid exceeds the obligation to our contractors. Only the fees paid exceeding our costs will be refunded. - Soldiers should have leave forms approved prior to the 30 day cancellation date.- If our Outdoor Recreation (ODR) staff cancels the trip, all customers providing their original registration receipt will receive a full refund.- We reserve the right to forfeit any reservation that does not pay the balances due, at the specified times prior to the trip’s departure date, as stated above.

Rental Policy- Rentals must be paid in full by time of pick-up.- A late fee will be charged if the item is returned late and without notice at the following rate: 1 day late: 1 day fee, 2 days late: 1 weekend fee, 3 days late or more: 1 week’s fee minimum.

BERLINOctober 11Berlin’s 800 year history seems short compared to other European cities, but the city offers just as much older cities do. Berlin has weathered through turmoil and prosperity; both leaving their mark. You will experience a 3-hour bus tour of some major sites including the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and others. After the tour, you will have free time to sightsee on your own. Price: $69 per adult, $59 per child (3-12), $10 per child under 3. BLACK FOREST October 25We will visit the city of Triberg, where you can see the largest waterfall in Germany, museum of the area, and shop for the cuckoo or grandfather clock of your choice. You may also just want to roam around and absorb the beautiful country side. Remember to bring your VAT form. Price: $69 per adult, $59 per child (3-12), $10 per child under 3. CHIEMSEE CASTLE October 12This castle is situated on an island in the middle of the Chiemsee Lake is modeled after Versailles. This was the final of Ludwig’s castles with only 20 of the 70 rooms completed. Ludwig only ever stayed in residence for a total of 10 days. The bus will take you to the port where you can opt for one of 3 tour packages with a cost of € 5-20 per person. Price: $59 per adult, $49 per child (3-12), $10 per child under 3. DACHAU & THE MUNICH NATIONAL MUSEUMOctober 19, November 9, January 11, February 8, March 15The main camp was comprised of the actual prisoners’ camp, the SS area as well as various subsidiary camps such as the so-called plantation, and the burial grounds for concentration camp prisoners, now the Concentration Camp Memorial Cemetery Dachau-Leitenberg. Then, we go to the Munich National Museum. It offers a hands-on exploration of German science and technology. Museum entry is approx €8.50 per adult. HALLOWEEN IN THE FRANKENSTEIN CASTLEOctober 25Welcome to Frankenstein Castle near Darmstadt for the biggest Halloween party in Germany! The event takes place annually in the ruins of the Frankenstein castle with more than 70 monsters waiting to scare you when you walk through the castle grounds, with shows on stage, and refreshments & food - join the fun if you dare! MUNICH CHRISTMAS MARKETDecember 20Munich’s Christmas Market is held on the Marienplatz in the heart of the city center. Town records first mention a ”Nicholas Market” in the Kaufinger Strasse near the Frauenkirche in 1642. Back then, just like today, the Munich Christmas Market offers traditional Bavarian and unique Christmas gifts. Crib figurines, bee wax candles, chimney sweeps made of plums and almonds are just some of the many thousands of traditional Christmas gift ideas on display. CAVING DAY TRIPOctober 4, April 25Join us as we travel to the Bismarck Grotte. The tour of this cave begins with rappelling into the mouth of the cave and then we use climbing gear to negotiate the ups and downs of this cave system. Your underground tour culminates with a 25 foot chimney climb out of the depths of the cave. Some of the passages are tight, if you are claustrophobic please be advised! Price: $35. HEADLIGHT LEAD CROSS COUNTRY SKIING December 18, January 8, February 19 Looking for something fun to do on those long winter nights? Why not join Outdoor Recreation for an evening of cross country skiing. Leaving right outside the Outdoor Recreation Center, we’ll make our way through the forest trails. Price: $20 per person. INTRO TO SKI TOURING AT GROSSER ARBER**January 10, February 21Do you wonder what the term ‘earn your turns’ means? Let us get you on the right ‘track’ with Ski Touring. Ski Touring is a form of skiing that mixes some elements of traditional Alpine skiing with Cross Country skiing. With specialized bindings that allow the skier to ‘skin or walk’ up to the top, then lock the binding back in for the descent. Price: $49 per adult. Must be 16 years or older. USAG BAVARIA HAS ONE HUNTING AREA SET ASIDE EXCLUSIVELY FOR U.S HUNTERS.The HFS program is a great resource for upcoming hunts. We help you in finding hunting opportunities in the local area with state authorities and private hunters.Our office assists with the submission for registering firearms and contact information for purchase firearms from private personal.

Hunting in Europe and Germany is steeped in customs and traditions and has often been exclusively for the upper class until the last 30 years or so. Gun ownership in Germany is a privilege not a right and they have strict guidelines that must be followed to own, store and fire a weapon. One way to possess a Firearm is to pass an authorized hunting course HFSS offers. The Hunting course lasts approximately 10 weeks and meets all the requirements of German law. The course includes blocks of instruction on safety, customs, traditions, shooting, proper weapons handling, laws, and all game animals found in Germany.

HUNTING CLASSSeptember 2 - November 22 Price $220 per person (minimum 10 participants). Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Wednesdays in building RC 600. HIGH ROPES COURSE The Tower Barracks Outdoor Recreation High Ropes Course is a state of the art facility that provides participants with an adrenaline charged experience! Located at three different heights, the 46 different exciting elements and 5 zip lines guarantee to please and challenge everyone! Group reservations and prices are available upon request.

The High Ropes Course will close September 28 and re-open on April 3. This early closure is due to course maintenance.

Public Hours of Operation during open season: Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The HRC will also be open on every Friday of the scheduled USAREUR training holiday weekends from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Ages: Children 16-17 may participate on course without parent as long as written permission is given. Children 10-15 must have a parent physically accompany them on the course. For children 8-9 there must be a 1:1 ratio of child to adult on the course.

PAINTBALLThe Wild B.O.A.R complex has its very own paintball course. With a total of 3 courts, 2 woodland style and 1 speedball courts, there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking to get some friends together or organize something fun for your platoon the Wild B.O.A.R can make it happen for you.

Rules & Restrictions:Only ID card holders or ‘bonafide guests’ can play, participants must be 18 years or older. Due to ‘F-Stamp’ requirement, only Outdoor Recreation equipment can be used. Due to paint restrictions, only paint purchased through Outdoor Recreation can be used on field. In accordance with German law, no local nationals may participate in paintball.

Cost:$15 per person – includes safety equipment (marker, mask, and air) and field usage$80 per case of paint (2,000 rounds), paint is only sold by the case. The minimum participation is 10 players, reservations by request only. The maximum program length is 6 hours.

CONCERT IN MUNICH: CARL ORFF’S “CARMINA BURANA” February 19Since February 18 is the date of Ash Wednesday this year it is time to say good-bye to the frivolity of Carnevale and get busy with the repentance and restructuring of one’s life. The “Songs of Burana” are medieval poems uncovered in a monastery about 30 miles from Garmisch and, set to wild romping music give a pretty good example of the kinds of reforms that might be needed! The poems were written by the monks themselves but it was the Munich composer Carl Orff who set it all to fantastic music. Tickets in the Gasteig cost from €66 down to €29 for the nose-bleed seats. MUNICH: THE DARK TOUR February 27 for Part One, March 1 for Part TwoThis is the most ambitious introduction to the dark period of Munich’s history offered by any tour company! TORCH HIKE SERIES October 17, December 12, January 23, February 20, March 27In the summer and fall we do these hikes on Fridays in hiking boots, stopping at a local Hütte and walking back down the hill with lit torches in hand. In the winter, these become guided snowshoe hikes through wintery snow-covered landscapes. A unique winter experience that anyone can do, after all, it only requires you to be in average walking condition. We will hike to a mountain hut where we will enjoy a nice winter meal together.
