Dear Delegates

On behalf of the Indian Retinopathy of Prematurity (iROP) Society, we invite you to participate in the scientific deliberations of the 4th Annual Conference to be held from 21st to 23rd June, 2019 along with the 2nd Alumni meet of the Advanced Eye Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, at JW Marriott, Chandigarh.

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is fast emerging as a new and leading cause of childhood blindness in India and several similar economies in Asia as well as other continents. India has the largest number of preterm births in the world that run the risk of becoming bilaterally blind from ROP, if timely screening to detect treatable ROP is missed. There is lack of awareness, variable quality neonatal care and inadequate screening programs in place, contributing to the blindness and visual impairment from ROP.

There is a need to generate awareness among the ophthalmologists, neonatologists/ pediatricians, obstetricians, nurses and parents about this disease. The conference theme this year is “ROP - Past, Present and Future” and we aim to provide an exhaustive and in-depth coverage on all aspects of ROP care. An academic feast awaits you in Chandigarh “The City Beautiful” with the unique opportunity to meet several distinguished national and international experts in the field of ROP.

We invite you to participate and share your own experiences with challenges faced in starting ROP programs. This will help iROP society formulate national guidelines to uniformly screen and treat these premature infants.
