THE TYPES OF VERBS There are many types of verbs, but we are going to talk
about
. Regular Verbs and Irregular Verbs
- A regular verb (also known as a weak verb) forms its past tense
and past participle by adding -d or -ed (or in some cases -t) to the
base form: "We finished the project."
- An irregular verb (also known as a strong verb) doesn't form the
past tense by adding -d or -ed: "Gus ate the wrapper on his candy
bar".
REGULAR VERBS FORM
Adding -ed to verbs with all pronouns
I- He- It .....Walk walkedWork workedStay stayed Play played
EXCEPTIONS1 )trap– trapped
This verb ends with one vowel + one consonant, so you need to double the consonant .
2) share – sharedThis verb ends with e, so you just need to add D .
3) rely – relied This verb ends with consonant + y, so you need to
change the y to i and add -ED.
